»»———————————————————««Urgent cries filled your ears, the heavy scent of blood intoxicating your mind, and the endless sight of mangled and mutilated bodies greeted your eyes. The scene in which you were the center of allowed your heart to swell with fear—fear of falling victim to the guilt and heavy burden of failing to help those brave, fallen soldiers in need.
Your feet carried your heavy body through the endless rows, your slender fingers now stained with crimson as countless surgical tools and medicines had been hastily delivered through the makeshift medical grounds. The final battle with the demon lord himself had begun at such a terrifyingly short notice, and no being was prepared for the sacrifices that resulted.
The two leaders in your profession had already fallen to the evil forces, in which you were suddenly left to instruct and carry the emergency help yourself. Despite having tremendous skill in the medical profession, it didn't sit well that all you could do was stand at the sidelines and attempt to revive those already lost within the heavy clutches of death. It was desperate and you prayed for all the luck you could receive.
Sweat beaded along your brow, further dripping down your neck and coating your skin in a nervous reaction, but your hands remained focused, still and unwavering as they tended to those slipping away. You wouldn't show your fear, you would remain strong and collected—even if those dear to you had been ripped away without a chance to say their final goodbyes.
First with the news of Lady Tamayo's death upon first contact with Kibutsuji, you had been instructed to lead the kakushi and other helpers to await those in need as Shinobu herself proudly faced the horrors of Muzan and his followers. When her Kasugai crow fluttered confusedly through your maze of workers, the news of her very own death sent your heart panging in fear.
It seemed everyone was dropping like flies, regardless of their rank.
Still, you put your hopes in their heroic efforts, mumbling a quick prayer yourself as you could only pray for their success with your plan. Much wasn't really noted about Tamayo's death, but you had a suspicion she was successful in weakening Muzan, and a gut feeling told you Shinobu would be successful with avenging her sister's death.
So now, deceased or not, they relied on you to carry the corps on your shoulders—to tend to those in need and strengthen the forces. You promised no more lives would be senselessly lost that night, and dedication only grew, sending your heart and mind buzzing to life.
The heavying fatigue that usually would weigh down your limbs and tease your lidded eyes no longer remained, instead the thrilling rush of the moment sent a dose of adrenaline coursing through your veins. You quickly sutured up yet another wound, before rushing to another person in need. Hopefully, this would be the last time you would need to see those poor souls lying on their deathbeds, and the horrible smell of death would no longer hang in the air.
Instructing a few helpers that worked beneath you, your mind had no doubt that they would be confident enough to handle the stressful situation, as you put yourself to the more daunting tasks. After all, for now all you could do was wait and act on what was presented to you. There was an important matter to be addressed later on.
Entering a secluded tent towards the edge of the grounds, you hastily tugged the bloodied gloves from your hands, tossing them aside before searching through the messy collection of medicine and various ingredients. Quick to jot something down in your nearby open notebook, you lifted a small stand where a few vials of a dark liquid had been stored, counting over the samples before taking a moment to think.
