Occhiolism: The awareness of the smallness of your perspective.
»»———————————————————««

Laying flat along the petal covered ground, your head tilted back to gaze upon the sheltered blue sky. Tall ginkgo trees stretched far above your sprawled figure, and the occasional fluttering of their golden leaves fell to reach you.

It was quite a beautiful view, for you never really had the time to appreciate life's simple gifts as you were usually completing missions and other assignments instead. Free time was not handed out so easily amongst your dangerous profession, yet the boy resting beside you was another story. He was a Hashira, so if anything he'd be much more occupied compared to a lower ranking swordsmen such as yourself.

Muichiro was a lost soul, always gazing out to study each and every detail of the things that were presented to his empty gaze. You couldn't necessarily understand how he could maintain a carefree and nonchalant composure all the time, but you assumed most of it was due to his lack of memory. After all, he hadn't recognized your presence when you arrived, and even when you decided to join him in the lazy activity.

He was impassive, his minty eyes never once flickering from the bright sky, simply watching as the puffy clouds rolled on by, and as the trees swayed in the autumn breeze. You didn't dare utter a single word, afraid if you broke the prolonged silence, it would also rupture the peaceful atmosphere that had been established.

So you couldn't really remember how long you'd been laying there, your head parallel against his own as your body was shifted away from his. You'd never felt your body so relaxed, your mind so calm and empty as all you focused on was the delicate signs of nature, and your miniscule form amongst the forest.

You felt like the delicate leaves that were whisked away by the slightest breeze, so small and so easily influenced by the much larger things in life. They fluttered so carelessly, being pushed against the wind to fly in all directions, before randomly twisting to kiss the earth, covering it in a beautiful blanket of oranges and yellows.

You usually felt so strong and powerful, as you were able to decapitate the evil demons that prowled along the land, but the formidable trees towering above made you rethink that reality. It made you feel weak and vulnerable yet again, much like a child who has yet to grow into the wise adult. You felt inexperienced, young, like a tiny ant crawling along pecks of dirt, who's influence never reached the more important factors in life.

For the first time in your life, you'd finally contemplated your existence, your meaning, your future in which fate would soon decide for you. If human beings were so small and ordinary, what made each individual life so unique and important—from the smallest of bugs to the tallest of trees?

Perhaps this is what the boy laying beside you thought about, if there was anything else inside his head beside the locked memories swimming about, attempting to break free and be reminisced.

A gentle sigh passed your lips, so small and fragile compared to the mighty winds that swept the earth, and for once, your eyes locked. Both your heads tilted to meet, speaking silent words through the simple gaze—a greeting, which maintained the comforting atmosphere.

His ombre hair sprawled to entangle with your own along the blanket of fiery hues, and the cerulean skies fled from your vision, instead the burning colors engulfed your sight from corner to corner. It was disorientating, as the intense sight send your mind in a tizzy, and luckily Muichiro's eyes provided a cooling oasis of blue.

If you could just lay beside him for a moment longer, the stunning realization of your small presence could be easily overlooked, for your heart felt so large around him. A rush of emotions always flooded your mind, tingling your nerves and sending you in a content state.

It didn't matter how important either one of you were, for your titles were stripped in the calming moment, and no hint of danger dared to creep upon your tranquility. It was simply just the two of you, both living, breathing human beings, who could share the moment together.

He smiled, a slight upward curl of his lips, his light eyes softening just barely, but you easily caught sight of it. You returned the expression yourself, a bit more enthusiastic, but just as perfectly genuine.

Yeah, you could lay here forever.
