Vōtīvus: Pertaining to a vow; promised by a vow
»»———————————————————««

Laying awake in the cold futon of his room, Sanemi tossed and turned amidst the dark night, unable to lull himself to sleep as dark dreams haunted his troubled mind. Finally accepting the realization that he was currently unable to fall asleep, and that he wouldn't be getting any rest anytime soon, he slowly sat up to rest his face in scarred hands.

A long sigh passed his lips, flicking his empty gaze to watch the occasional glowing of fireflies outside his closed window. The sight sent his heart panging in longing, a dull ache filling his chest as he desperately clutched at it to no avail of easing the sensation.

Jealous of their giddy glow, the bugs had no reason to worry as they lazily fluttered through the summer night. He wished he hadn't experienced the traumatic scenarios throughout his childhood and older years, only encouraging the harsh nature he portrayed, a wall, to protect himself from experiencing those pains once again.

But just as he willingly let that wall crumble one last time, he had truly lost everything that mattered in the cruel and meaningless life of his. First his mother, then each and every one of his siblings, then you.

The haunting memory of his hands clutching desperately to your lifeless figure repeated through his mind on a daily basis, making him regret. If only he had stuck to that rugged personality of his, he would never have given in to loving someone yet again, he wouldn't have had to worry about suffering through the pain of losing someone yet again.

He'd once again learn to rebuild it, even stronger than the last.

To protect what was left of him.

If it was even worth it.

So giving in to the ache of missing one last time, Sanemi allowed the tears to silently flow down his cheeks, knowing this would be the last time he'd cry over you.

"Fuck, why are we doing this again?" An annoyed voice called out, straining under the weight of carrying his body up the formidable cliff. A few figures had been attempting to climb your mountain at the continued mysterious disappearances of their fellow Hashira, deciding to see what had gone through the man's mind.

"Quit complaining Uzui."

A second voice called out amongst the occasional grunts and curses, deep and poisonous as they shot a mismatched angry glare to the other Hashira. The others only sighed in frustration, ignoring the childish complaining of the Sound Hashira as the top of the cliff had now appeared in their sight.

Reaching another hand to grab onto the various foliage and rocks edged into the cliff, a sudden tremble shook the earth, causing the swordsmen to cling tightly against their bearings. Various plants and wildlife had begun to wither around the mountaintop, only confusing the Hashira with the sudden change in surroundings.

Deciding to finish their terrifying climb before they had nothing left to hold onto, they quickly scaled what was left to collapse to the flat mountaintop.
