»»———————————————————««It's every teenage girl's dream to experience that one perfect night during her high school years—to finally be clad in the most delicate of gowns and to slave away in order to present herself in such a stunning beauty, forever awaiting the night when she'd revel in the time spent with a loved one, or perhaps friends.
Well, maybe that might not be everyone's dream, but it certainly was yours.
Along with the millions of other traditions and celebrations of finally reaching your long awaited senior year, your school's senior promenade was the thing you were most looking forward to. Exclusively hosted for your class during the last few months of the year, it truly was a dream to finally be notified of the announced official date.
Amongst your friend group and family, you had always wondered what it would be like, wondered what you would look like, and wondered who would ask that fateful question to be your date for the night. Now that it was finally happening, the years of dreaming had finally payed off, and you had your mind set on finally experiencing it all.
So it wasn't really a surprise when your current boyfriend of three years asked that question, to spend that wonderful night with you as a couple, and of course you said yes. Usually your boyfriend of all people would be the least expected to go with you—well, because he wasn't exactly one for that fancy romantic sappy shit, but seeing you with a smile on your face was all he wanted.
Of course he left the planning to you, which you happily agreed to, wanting your dress and all to remain a secret surprise for that night. Each day until the approaching event, you had been so animated on showing your excitement, and truly you shone in a different light, being so happy and all.
Perhaps that's what even allowed your boyfriend to grow the least bit anticipated for it—and of course he wouldn't show it, but he was excited as well. It would be a memorable night shared between the both of you, and what better than to spend it with your loved one.
Finally when the week of the event had arrived, you'd practically been bouncing off the walls, constantly talking and dreaming about that Saturday night, but he really couldn't complain. It was cute to see you so worked up over something, and truly it made his heart beat quicker at the thought of holding you that evening.
Each passing school day might've been absolute torture, sitting through never-ending hours of class to get through the week, but it was worth it. It was so worth it. Chanting inspirational phrases like mantras over and over inside your head had helped quite a bit with passing the time, and that Friday had finally come.
When the late bell had rung to notify the faculty and students of the day's end, your figure rushed to gather your things and find your date. As if pestering the boy to quickly grab his things to leave would make tomorrow come in an instant, you buzzed and poked and prodded at him, pulling him out of the school building the moment his personal locker slammed shut.
Even walking each other home had became such a sacred ritual after every day, but at this moment even the short walk you had never wanted to end felt so torturously long. Your small hands tugged at his frame, and with each handsomely deep laugh of his which would usually send your cheeks in a flustered state, you only pouted at his teasing actions for your excitement.
