Hiraeth: A homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past.

Making your way up the winded path that led through the rather dense forest, your Kasugai crow had guided you along with its fast fluttering. Your crow's pace was rather difficult to keep up with—for it loved to leave you behind so often, but luckily the path your feet followed was rather self-explanatory.

Once you reached the edge of the forest, you stood awkwardly before the arched gateway that led into the heart of the corps. Tall stone fences lined the perimeter of the estate, towering far above much like the trees beside you, protecting what was inside.

Even the entryway was quite grand itself, as intricately carved designs curled deep into the stone to stretch under the vastly slanted roof. Many colorful plants blossomed along the gates, and the estate itself had just seemed so well-kept, it made you feel out of place in comparison.

Dressed only in the standard female uniform, you had appeared to be quite drab and lifeless compared to the lavish headquarters. Pausing before you stepped through the entryway, you hesitated over the thought of actually arriving.

The rolled paper that was held tightly within your hands crumpled under the strain of your fingers, yet you knew it was tying you down, forcing you to do this. After all, it was an order, and you couldn't defy an order. Luckily, before the intimidating estate could sent your heart beating out of it's chest, two masked figures were quick to welcome you. They bowed, and you took note of the kanji scrawled along their uniformed backs.

Kakushi.

The figures notified you of the semi-annual Hashira meeting that was currently taking place, so it seemed you had to wait a bit until you'd be able to enter. So your feet aimlessly wandered before the headquarters, pacing along the ends of the long fence in haste.

Your crow perched lazily upon your shoulder, it's head tilting in confusion at your senseless actions, and it only squawked at you in return. Halting in your steps, the sudden crow from the bird caught your attention, snapping you from the string of thoughts.

The rolled parchment in your hands had been tightly secured by a silky red ribbon around its middle, and although you had a vague understanding of what the letter entailed, your mind wondered what really was written. It sent an ever increasing fear tumbling through your chest, and it felt as if something was wrapping tight around your heart, tightening your chest as fear itself refused to allow you a steady breath.

The Kakushi notified you of the master's availability as the meeting had now come to an end, and you were so grateful that you could finally get this moment over with. Stepping through the intimidating gates with the helpers on your trail, you had noticed that the inside was even more impressive.

You were simply just a mere swordsmen once you passed through those gates, and you could instantly feel multiple pairs of eyes darting to pick you apart. Paying no mind to the few Hashira that were still present, busy bickering away at someone else once sweeping their eyes over you, the cursed man that stood under the shaded protection of the engawa was much more intimidating.

Once you were within a few steps from the leader of the headquarters, you quickly dropped to your knees, prostrating yourself in a deep bow. The Kakushi followed suit, and a gentle smile formed along the master's lips.
