"now everyone, i have a new assignment for you all - instead of doing tests, i will grade you through this assignment based on our topic of this week. it's a partner assignment and yes i will be the one who will pick your partner"
all of the students whined at the last sentence ms. oh just said, "now now, i will call out your names and your partners so listen closely"
"jiwoo and yeri" "lucas and yuqi" "yunho and mingi" "naeun and jihoon" "san and chaeyoung"
and the list goes on
chaewon leaned her head on her hand as she waited for her name to get called
"sihyeon and hyungseop" "chaewon and mark"
chaewon who was looking at the scenery from the window beside her suddenly shot her head towards the teacher. ms.oh glanced briefly at chaewon but she averted her gaze back towards the list and continued to read it out
chaewon sighed and leaned back to her chair, ignoring the stare from the boy beside her

"can't you group me with someone else?" as soon as class ended, i walked straight into ms.oh's desk which didn't surprise her. "it'll be fine chaewon" ms.oh calmly replied to me as she gathered her stuff
"can't i just do it alone? or maybe you can change my partner into chayoon?" chayoon's one of the quiet girls beside me in this class and even though we never talked to each other, i'm sure i can handle being grouped with her
"i won't change my decision chaewon. do your best okay?" ms.oh gave me a small smile before leaving the classroom. i sighed in annoyance before walking back to my seat lifelessly, i sat down on my seat and put my head on the table - trying to calm my thoughts
"so.. are we still partners? or?" my eyes shot open from the voice beside me
'oh i forgot about him sitting next to me'
i slowly raised my upper body from the table and looked aside, giving him a small nod. "when should we start? i'm free anytime"
okay not gonna lie, it's really weird hearing him talk normally since he's always so awkward
"today?" mark's eyes looked up and a few incoherent mumbles were made by his mouth. then he looked towards me and gave a small smile, "sure" i nodded slowly before saying, "great then"
and just as i was about to lay my head again, he threw another question
"where should we do the uhh.. the work.. assignment" and he's back being awkward
