But hey, when you die inside, you get to rise from your own ashes to return as a stronger fighter.
I stood proud and tall and began to investiagte the town. Again, like all the towns seemed to be around here, it was small, cozy, and definately had that country feeling to it. There were even horses and carriages parked and trotting along the road.
Feels like I've gone back before the cars and the vroom vroom, I joked. "C'mon, dunno about you, but I can't wait to find Troy's truck!" I mentioned enthusiastically as I ran ahead to find the business district of the town.
As they thought I was out of ear range, I heard Troy give a sigh and Kayden say "Happy little spitfuck..."
"I heard that!" I yelled back cheerfully.
"Bring it!" Kayden challenged, running after me to give chase.
"Shiet!" was my only reaction as I ran from my closest friend in a playful manner. Shady followed on my right and Milo on my left. I put all my strength into escaping from our little game, as I dodged and weaved inbetween people and obstacles to get away from him.
I stopped running when I'd noticed Shady and Milo slowing back. I turned to see what they'd gone to investigate, and was surprised when Kayden picked me up around the waist and swung me around and held me up off the ground.
"Gotcha!" he claimed.
"Doesn't count..." I said with a slight hint of a childish frownyface.
He laughed it off and put me down. We followed the dogs to see that Shady had followed his nose to the truck across the road! "Nice goin, Shady!" I cheered. They both began to bark and circle enthusiastically, waiting to get into the truck.
When Troy finally caught up, he unlocked the doors and I opened the back left door so the dogs could get in. Milo tried to jump up on her own, but still only really being a pup, a few months old now, she wasn't quite tall or strong enough to jump or haul herself up.
I was surprised in 'awwh' as Shady gently picked her up by the flesh on the scruff of her neck, hopped up into the truck and made himself comfortable on the right side of the truck. Once he was comfy, he placed her down between his front paws and licked her behind the ear in comfort. She laid her exhausted head down on his arm, up near his shoulder and fell asleep instantly. Shady looked up at me, and laid his own head down to drift away too.
"Hey Kass, you still hungry?" Troy asked as I stood ready to jump up into the truck. "You didn't really get a chance to eat last time, since you..." he muttered.
"Yeah true, I'm starved." I replied. I gently closed the door and hopped over the curb. I followed the boys in, and we stood in line, awaiting to order.
I suddenly had it dawned upon how dangerous being around people could be. What if there were wanted signs hanging around? Did I not just break out of a mental prison or something equally as stupid with the entire population of prisoners who were also there? Surely the guards or something would be trying to track us down again?
"What do you guys want?" Troy asked, turning to face us, pulling me from my thoughts. "Hey, you alright?" Kayden asked pulling me closer from behind my chest. He must have noticed my sudden distress.
"Yeah, let's make this quick though yeah..?"
"Sure.. everything alright?" Troy asked. "I'm alright. Positive," I assured them. "What are you guys havin'?" I wanted to know what they were having before I placed my order and looked like I hadn't eaten in ag...
No, scrap that, I haven't eaten in a few days at least! Hope Troy had some cash, I laughed.
Troy turned to face the dude behind the regester, standing patiently with a typical sale persons' grin on his face. I was positive he wasn't receiving any bonuses for his happiness.
