Marrying Shawn?

Okay so something unexpected happened earlier today, Shawn wanted to marry me. I really, really wasn't expecting for that to happen. As much as I wanted to say yes, I just said no. It happened way too fast. I really do wanna spend my future with Shawn but I needed time to think about it. I came home to a bunch of streamers falling all over me and my parents were saying congratulations. My parents knew about this?

Alessia: "You guys knew he was gonna do it?"

Mom: "Yeah we did, where is he?"

Alessia: "I didn't accept..."

Dad: "What?"

Mom: "Why?"

Alessia: "It happened way too fast.."

Dad: "What do you mean?"

Alessia: "I didn't think he would do that so quick, I really do love him but I don't know if I should accept the ring. I really wanted to say yes but I just couldn't...I was scared...we've only dated for about three months...not even up to a year or so...I just couldn't accept it..."

Mom: "Are you afraid of marriage?"

Alessia: "Yes, I'm afraid of being married. I don't wanna say goodbye to all of this. I don't wanna leave you guys and my brother. I really wanna be married and have my own family but I didn't expect to happen so suddenly..."

Mom: "Honey, don't you know that marrying someone early than a year is a good thing?"

Alessia: "Why is it a good thing?"

Mom: "Because if a guy waited for about a year or 2 to propose you, that guy is no good for you. But if he married before a year or maybe even 6 months, then he's good for you."

Alessia: "Really?"

Mom: "Yeah, I married your dad when I was 26. And we've dated for only 5 months."

I thought about it for a second.

Dad: "He just really loves you enough for you to be his wife, I know it's scary. Your mother was scared of marriage too because it happened way too suddenly. But she accepted the next time I proposed to her."

Alessia: "What made you accept?"

Mom: "I listened to what my heart wanted, I loved your dad a lot. Your dad was who made me happy so I accepted the proposal."

I thought about it again. What my mom said made sense.

Mom: "Does Shawn make you happy?"

Alessia: "Yes he does."

Mom: "Then, go ahead and say yes. He really loves you Alessia. He's been going on and on about marrying you while you were on tour."

Alessia: "Really?"

Mom: "Yeah, he was hoping for you to say yes but now he's probably heartbroken."

Alessia: "I feel terrible now.."

Dad: "It's ok, he'll come around. He might ask you again."

Mom: "Just follow your heart and trust me, it's gonna help you."

I smiled.

Alessia: "Thank you."

I headed up to my room and thought about it. I really did love Shawn and he does make me happy. My mom got married at 26, so i guess being married in the 20s is not a bad idea. Maybe I'll accept his proposal if he asks me again because I did want to marry him a lot. My phone buzzed and Shawn sent me a message asking him to meet him at a restaurant at 6pm on the dot. I accepted to meet him there. I knew I had to follow my heart and do what the heart wants.
