chapter 18

"Maddox please tell me that you told her about the date and i'm not losing my mind?" I asked Maddox seriously who chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck "If i'm honest Ches I was going to say the exact same thing to you." I was utterly confused, not many people knew that we went out the other day, nevermind that we called it a date. The only person that pops into my head is that woman and surely they would have no connection. Amity is just an average university student. Alviva is a thousand year old witch who has raging ego and grudge issues.

I decided to let the matter go for now, I was enjoying the moment and didn't want it to be spoiled by something that I didn'i understand. I would be able to think about it later in my own time. especially if she is somehow connected to that woman. I gave Maddox a shrug before saying "do you want to reply? or do you want me to? She knows that we have seen her message." He gave me a shrug before going on his laptop where he started writing a message .

It was fantastic thank you! we had a lot of fun! Ches was really surprised that the theatre had changed and the look on his face was so funny XD the movie was awesome I would totally recommend it. Then we had a really yummy dinner! -M

That seemed like a perfect and happy representation of what happened, I couldn't tell if Maddox was no longer thinking of what actually happened or if he just didn't want to tell Amity what actually happened. Either way I was happy that he would willingly tell people that we went on a date together.

We were working for quite a while with no interruptions , we didn't get a reply from Amity despite it saying that she had seen the message almost immediately after it was sent. It was around five o'clock when we heard Savannah shout up the stairs . "Maddox ask chester if he will be staying for tea!" which caused him to roll his eyes before awaiting my answer "what? you want to ask me something?" I asked cheekily which caused Maddox to push me slightly "do you want to stay for tea?"

I thought over it for a few minutes before ultimately sighing "Do you know what it is? I prefer not to eat meat..." I trailed off a bit, As mentioned before I hadn't actually told Maddox that I didn't eat meat, it just never came up in conversations. "ohh okay one sec!" He happily jumped from his bed before almost running down the stairs, I could hear some muffled voices so I was assuming he was asking his mother. Not long later he was coming back up with a piece of cheese in his hand. "We're having Pizza, there will be a meatless one if you do want to join." He was munching on the piece of cheese in his hand.

I smiled, I didn't see anything wrong with it I suppose and it would be a good opportunity to get to know Maddox's family better . "I would love to stay." I smiled kindly and Maddox did a little happy dance "yay! my first friend staying over for dinner!" It still shocked and hurt me that I was the first friend that Maddox had around for dinner but I was also rather proud , I was the first friend that he went out with alone, I was the first friend to stay for tea at his house. It's heart breaking but it fills me with a sense of pride.

We spent another hour watching programmes on Maddox's television. We were sort of...snuggling...I wasn't used to the contact but it was comfortable. Maddox didn't really seem to notice that we were snuggled together. His head was nearly on my chest and I had my arm wrapped around him. The television programme was interesting but odd, it was odd in general and it was interesting because Maddox liked it. It made very little sense to me but when I asked about it Maddox got really passionate and ranted for a good two minutes. I made sure to ask him more questions after that.

Maddox groaned when his mother shouted us down, though in doing so he seemed to realize the situation that we were in and his face was once again the colour of his hair . "s-sorry" He muttered as he crawled to get off me. I gave a chuckle and shook my head "Don't worry about it Maddox, it's fine, I was comfortable as well." Which almost seemed to deepen his blush , much to my amusement.

When we got downstairs we went straight into the living room. Kenny had his back to us nearly as he tried to watch the television. "Hiya dad how are you?" Maddox asked as he came and sat on the middle seat in the sofa and gestured to the seat beside him . When I sat down there was a slight dip due to years of use , though it was still very comfortable. Despite the change in height between the seat that I am in and Maddox's seat I was still taller, which caused him to send me a quick playful glare.

Kenneth seemed to be watching a quiz show on the television , I didn't really watch a lot of quiz shows but I liked random trivia. That is what we watched through the entirety of dinner. Each of us answering some questions and starting quite nice conversations. This was...normalness, I thought that I lived the normal university life until I came to this house this morning. I thought that all people did was work and maybe have a hobby or two, but now I realize that it Is so much more then that. It made me miss my parents and family but I've been without them for so long that I've almost forgotten what they looked like and sounded like. Even though I tried to remember them every day and grip tightly to those memories that I had.

When we were finished I had realized that it was pretty late, Usually I would be getting into bed by now , but I was having a lot of fun. I had offered to help wash up but Savannah had none o fit, unfortunately kindness ran in the family. I shook Kenneth's hand in farewell and I gave savannah a hug. Maddox walked me to the door and leant against it as I was facing him.

"Did you have a good day?" I asked him genuinely wanting to know his answer , he rubbed his arm as he replied "I had the best day that I've ever had at home. Did you have a good day?" He smiled at me sweetly, though he looked scared. He looked as though everything was relying on this very moment , now that I look back at it he makes that face a lot.

"I had a wonderful time Maddox, though I've always had good times when I'm with you"......cue mental face palm, Chester why do you always say the wrong thing? to Maddox? You started doing it on messenger and now look at you! messing up in real life! Poor Maddox seemed like he wanted to leap out of the door and hug me tightly and never want to elt go, which made me want to leap and hug him and enver let go . but what I did get was an 'awwww' and a kiss on the cheek, which i'm alright with.

"have a good night Maddox!" I walked backwards going towards the gate "I will thank you! I'll message you soon, goodnight" we waved to each other before he shut the door. When he turned the light off outside of his house, I realized how dark it was. I wasn't worried , I could hold myself in a fight if it came to it , which I knew it probably wouldn't. I don't venture down any mysterious or suspicious streets on my way back home.

I honestly spoke too soon. I was half way home and I started to feel rather dizzy, there was nothing surrounding me that could give away why. I fell to my knees and tried to stay steady and awake when I saw a pair of trainers approach me. My eyesight was blurry and I couldn't make much out .

All I could see was stripes of blue and blonde.
