chapter 51

After we pulled back the rest of the night was a bit of a blur. Maddox was alright , he hadn't hit his head or anything. We all stayed downstairs as we had enough blankets to fill around three room's worth of floor. I lay down next to Maddox , none of us thought it was necessary to have someone on watch but amity did burn some sage and Maddox put his crystal in the doorway as Emily recommended. We had put a movie on the television though Amity and Alaric were nearly passed out when Maddox and I reached the living room.

Though no matter how tired I was, I couldn't sleep. It was around 2 am when Maddox rolled over, he wrapped his arm around my waist and snuggled into me. I had found that he moved a lot in his sleep, he liked to put an arm up and run his other hand down it almost as though he was tickling himself. I had my back turned to him as i wasn't creepy, I just turned whenever I felt or heard large movements. When he placed his arm around my waist , his head was just above my shoulder he muttered the words "Love you" before he seemed to go back into dreamland. I couldn't tell if he knew that I was awake but I fell asleep with a smile on my face.

The next day I had woken up first. I was tangled in blankets I had a small headache but I marched upstairs anyway. I put some comfortable clothes on as I didn't know what we were doing today. I got washed and brushed my hair again. I was considering doing something different with it but i'm not sure if I want to cut it. The thoughts left my head as I went downstairs to the kitchen.

I went to the kitchen and started to cook pancakes, I knew that I don't have any meat in the house and Alaric may not be happy with that but I also hoped pancakes would make up for it. Who doesn't love pancakes? they're very customisable. I was in the middle of making the batter when a sleepy Maddox came in ,He was rubbing his eyes and a side of the shirt he was wearing exposed his shoulder.

"Morning Maddox" I greeted happily as he came over to me and saw what I was doing. He looked at the bowl then the pan before a smile lit up his face "G'morning Ches, good idea ." he muttered as he gave me a kiss on the cheek and sat on a kitchen stool. He watched as I worked and hummed, we chatted a little bit before I asked "Do you want to get Amity and Alaric out of their slumber?" He perked up immediately after my suggestion before nodding happily and running out of the room. I didn't know what he was planning until I heard , very loud and very clearly, "GOOD MORNING GOOD MORNING, ARE YOU READY FOR THE MORNING, RISE AND SHINE, GET OUT OF BED, LET THE DREAMS GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD!"

I laughed as I heard screams, Maddox must have found or had a speaker in his back and put text to speech on his phone. He sped quickly back into the room whilst holding his phone. He showed me a picture of Alaric and Amity. Amity's hair was a mess and she was basically being buried by Alaric, who had his mouth wide open."That was excellent" I chuckled before turning back around , I heard Maddox start playing a game or some music on his phone, i'm glad that the picture wasn't on the screen whilst Alaric and Amity burst in the kitchen, looking wildly around.

"DDID YOU HEAR THAT!" they yelled together , Alaric had his hands up in fists and was ready to punch the next thing that touched him whilst Amity had her hands on his shoulders wand was peeking over his shoulder. Alaric flinched a bit at Amity's yelling but they both just continued to look around like they were going to be attacked at any given moment . I remained calm and asked with a polite smile "Hear what? whilst Maddox spun around to face them with a confused and scared look "Wait did you hear something?" Maddox's acting was once again superb as they looked extremely confused . "Um yeah? it was pretty loud" Amity stated as though we were dumb.

I turned around to stop myself from laughing "Well I didn't hear anything, good morning!" I said happily as I pushed some plates to where the seats are. "Yes, good morning guys!" Maddox cheerfully grinned and thanked me as I placed some pancakes in front of him. There were various amounts of toppings and such already in front of them. Before I sat down I decided to make a start on the dishes . They were almost completely finished by the time I had came to start eating my own breakfast and there was just idle small talk.

Amity and Alaric had went to get ready upstairs and search for some clothes -or magic up some clothes, I don't know what she does!- whilst me and Maddox sat peacefully "You're a really good cook..." Maddox complimented as he swung his legs back and forward. I chuckled with a bite of food in my mouth "Well it was just pancakes today...It's har- wait never mind actually they are pretty easy to mess up, I've just had a lot of practice." I admitted with a crooked smile, trying to come off as humorous.

Maddox huffed and turned to me , placing his elbow on the table "Chester it's still awesome and your experience shouldn't be something to be ashamed about." He jumped up and started to gather the plates and bowls that were used to hold the breakfast and headed to the sink, the sink being directly in front of me. He now had his back towards me as he said "Our experiences make us who we are chester, your experiences made a fantastic being who I love, so you shouldn't be ashamed of you experiences."

I had finished eating at this point and quietly made my way towards Maddox, I had left my plate at the breakfast bench thing before hand so it didn't make a noise. I wrapped my arms around his middle and buried my head in his neck "I love you" I have a feeling I ill be saying that too often, Maddox honestly makes me speechless too often and all I can think of to say is that simple yet powerful phrase.

"I love you too." Maddox said louder then I as he kissed my temple . We both jumped out of our skin as we heard "Alright love birds! we've got a day to start!" suddenly from behind us appeared Alaric with his arms folded "We're going back to the slip and skate house, get ready." As he left Maddox and I shared a glance before bursting out laughing, I gestured him to go find some clothes whilst I finish up. I could get used to having more friends .
