chapter 31

Maddox had his eyes closed under the covers and he had his bracelet in his hand, he was playing with the charms tat I didn't really take much time in analysing , I couldn't see him too well but that might have been why he went under the covers in the first place . "What uh Amity said something before you knw....she slammed me body into the ice..." I waited patiently whilst he tried to get his words to form and come out of his mouth. I felt my jaw tighten at the mention of what happened at the ice rink but I hoped Maddox didn't notice .

"she asked me how much I knew about you and that I fi knew that you were only dating me so you can get rid of your curse..." Maddox whispered almost inaudibly. my eyes widened and my anger spiked a bit, though it was cooled down by the sorrow and sadness I heard in Maddox's voice. All this time I had been worried about Maddox possibly wanting to break up with me because he was scared for his life, I thought he was scared that amity or alviva would go even further and do something even more unforgivable but no. Maddox was self-conscious and wanted validation that he is the person that I am in love with, not the idea of breaking my curse.

I sighed and reached for Maddox's hand which shook slightly in mine "Maddox, you can ask me anything about my past, I won't hold anything back at all . but I also want you to know that I am in love with you, I'm not in love with the idea that I could break my curse I'm in love with your beautiful and bubbly personality. I love your fire red hair and the way that your cheeks go nearly as red when I make you blush. I love your laugh and your conversation. I like how humble and open you are. Maddox i'm in love with you and if you question that again I will make sure to tell you all of the things that I love about you." I could almost feel the heat coming off him, he pulled the blanket off the top of our heads and tool a big breathe of the air.

His hair was once again a mess and his face was bright red , he rubbed his eyes with a big smile and said "a-a-awe Chester that's soo sweet...I love you too" I could hear the tears in his voice . He sounded as though he was trying to hold back tears. I wrapped my arms around him and let him place his head on my chest, he had his eyes closed again and the tears slowly fell from his eyes.

We sat there for a moment in silence , before Maddox sighed and shifted so that he was sat opposite me with his legs crossed . "So back on that topic...you..." I chuckled a little bit and responded "yes me, I'm sat in front of you..." he gave me a little shove before replying "yes I want to know all about you, all about you like everything, you know quite a bit about me soo why not?"

I decided to tease him a little bit and I said with a smirk "That is quite a bold move for you to say on my bed after only a few dates Maddox..." He hid his face behind his hands as he fell backwards with a small groan "Chess don't do that too meee you know what I mean ..." I grinned evilly whilst trying to get his hands away from his face , gently of course, he pouted at me again and crossed his arms.

"ah yes Maddox but that simply does not tell me what you want to know or talk about, I am an open book which is falling apart at the binder but I need to be directed to what chapter you want to read. " his mouth created an 'o' shape as he realized why I wasn't answering his question of 'you' . He straightened his back and clapped his hands .

"Okay then chester! lets start on the easy bit ....what's your favourite animal?" I had to bite my cheek to hold back from laughing , this seemed like the beginning of twenty questions, a game where Maddox got to ask me twenty questions ...and then another twenty . I replied to his first question with "crows" which seemed to confuse him a little bit

"Why are crows your favourite animal?" he had his fingers linked in front of him and he was resting on his hands "Wll crows are often omens of death and sadness and I think that they're smart and misunderstood. just because they know things that we don't apparently, I think that birds can be graceful and I like the thought of being able to fly. If I ever die and reincarnation is a thing I want to be reincarnated as a crow, So that I can be an intelligent creature that brings fear to other intelligent creatures. "

His eyes were wide by the time I had finished talking , he had a very thoughtful look on his face , as though he was flying himself and analysing what it would be like to be a crow. "Hmm I see what you mean, I like owls for some of the same reasons, they are also considered bad omens as they are intelligent and know the future. That's a fantastic and interesting choice chester...hmm trying to think of questions-" He did the last part in a sing-song voice with a smile on his face.

We continued the process of him asking questions and me answering them until we got to more serious questions . "Chester...I know that a part of your curse is that your relationships are doomed to fail...could you tell me a little bit more about...the failing aspect? or perhaps why our relationship could end? because I don't see much of a problem with it..."

I gave him a small smile "I knew that this talk would happen sooner or later Maddox don't worry , I'm okay to talk about it. Though it is rather ironic timing considering I was just thinking about them yesterday..." I had deleted the photos from my phone and just got out of my tunnel of self pity though I didn't really want to tell him that . "I've had five relationships since the curse was placed on me. as for the failing aspect , some of them just weren't into men , someone's family didn't approve and some sadly passed away before the relationship could go any further. As for our relationship..at first I thought it was because fo your visual impairment, but that doesn't seem to be getting in the way...at all"

He had a small frown on his face and moved to sit beside me, up until now we were sitting in front of each other but now we were sitting beside each other he reached around me and pulled me into a hug, I had hugged Maddox before yes, certainly but I had never been the hugged . "Chester you're amazing" he was once again muffled but this time by my shirt . I wrapped my arm around him and gave a slight chuckle .

"No Maddox you are ..." He looked up at me with a grin and a glint in his eyes "No you are" My eyes widened and I put my hands up in surrender "Okay, you win i'm awesome and brilliant." that caused him to scoff "Hey hey don't go that far...you are like but don't get a big head , soon enough it wont' fit in the room" which caused me to gasp dramatically before we both burst out laughing.

"That's another thing that I love about you Maddox, I like how you can laugh and we can have fun doing nothing and just talking. I haven't really been able to laugh and have fun like this in a long time." He gave me a slight smile and a quick kiss. "Okay if we're doing this then I love your caring nature, you have been very nice to me and you have shown me a whole new world of friendship and happiness. you've made it possible to do things that I couldn't do before such as ice skating...and going outside in the scary world of people ."

I gave him a kiss on the cheek "Okay lets stop before the complimenting circle starts and it becomes never-ending...wanna watch some movies?"
