"Papyrus?" You spoke as you stared at the tall skeleton, and he was definitely over seven feet tall. The restaurant had its eyes on the tall skeleton and he only nodded at you excitedly. "Oh my God. Give me a moment to clock out for break and I'll talk to you, cool?"
"COOL!" Papyrus screamed. You winced and watched him leave the restaurant. You apologized to the customers you were serving then ran into the kitchen and clocked out for break. Mia looked at your rushed signature as you sped through the door. You quickly told Malcolm that you were on break and he had to take over which resulted in him groaning and complaining. Wilson was long since gone so you didn't need to worry about telling him. You sped outside to Papyrus who was loudly greeting everybody he passed on the streets.
"Hey Papyrus, what did you want to talk about?" You asked him, you hadn't had the chance to throw on a coat or scarff in fear of making Papyrus wait for you. Thus, making you start to shiver and hold your arms to your chest for comfort. He started to talk but noticed you wincing at his volume and quickly lowered it for your sake.
"Right! So, human, I the Great Papyrus has noticed you did not call and or text me last night! I feared you had not received my number --which would be sad to pass up an opportunity to be my friend-- and have come to the place we had met!" He stood proudly with his scarf waving in the nonexistent wind. You laughed and replied.
"Oh was it on that slip of paper?" you paused and he excitedly nodded. "I'm sorry then Papyrus! I didn't read what was on it and assumed it was trash." You explained the scenario that did not happen with false emotions.
"Do not fret human! I am here to deliver you my number in person! So there will be no more conundrums!" He paused while you giggled at how fanciful he talked. "Human! Hand me your phone so I can give you my contact!" Your face fell, and you quickly explained to him you don't have a phone, though you do have a laptop.
"Very well! Show me this mystical laptop of your own!" Papyrus rolled his r's as he spoke which gave him a weird accent.
"Oh Papyrus I can't bring you my laptop. It's at my house. Here," You pulled out a pen from your apron, "write your number on my arm and I'll put it into my laptop when I get home." He beamed at your solution and reached for the pen. Papyrus had trouble uncapping it with his red mittens, but he eventually got it and wrote his number down on your arm. Then, he proceeded to sign his name in a really weird font. It looked like some ancient carvings, yet it was in all caps which made you laugh.
Papyrus had his phone out so you two could take a selfie together for your contact photo and you saw that you only had a couple of minutes left in your break. You told him you had to get back to work and he made the face of a sad puppy.
"If you really wanted to keep talking that much you could always sit down and eat here?" You offered trying to get Mia's Magnificent Menu some extra change, and the ability to talk to Papyrus more. Around ten o'clock every weeknight people would begin to clear out which is what you guys called the end of the dinner rush. It wasn't too bad when the store was rushed, but there were times where it was just constant bad customers paired with more work than you usually had which makes it horrible.
"AH! I cannot stay tonight human! I am having a sleepover at me and my brother's house! I would invite you, but you are working." Papyrus looked sad that he couldn't invite you-- even though you couldn't have gone either way. "I wish my friends could meet you! Then think of how popular you would be! You'd have so many friends, just like the Great Papyrus!"
You cringed at how easy it was to tell that you were lonely and friendless. You also felt a jab at your pride. Sure Papyrus wasn't meaning to be rude, but he still hurt your feelings. You laughed and agreed with him to hide your feelings. You weren't going to let him feel bad over a mistake.
