Recovery

It was about a week after the first mission, my ribs still hurt but I managed to get the doctors to write a certificate to let go back to work. Larissa wouldn't let me come back without a note from the doctors.

Hollie ran up to me nearly toppling me over as I made my way up to the shooting range. Larissa was in the VR room working on her moving aims. She was surprised to see me and before she could kick me out, I raised my piece of paper up and walk away. As soon as I got into the locker room I reached for my gun off the shelf. It had been cleaned and reloaded. It felt so good to finally have the gun back in my hand and the weight of the vest on my shoulders. Most of the day I spent regaining my endurance and speed without pushing myself to much. Hollie and Larissa were on the range shooting and working on moving discs.

The day went by fast and by the end of it I had sweat pouring off of me and my hair the mess. Leo had made dinner and had the table set ready for when I came home. The moment I walked through the front door the smell of pasta and garlic bread washed over me. I didn't miss office work at all, but I think Leo wanted me back in the office. He thinks that my job is far too dangerous. Today had been so hard that I just wanted to go to bed and sleep. I had almost fallen asleep when Alexander had come and curled up in my arms.
