Celest's 4th Birthday Party

It was the day of Celest's 4th birthday party, and she had spent the whole day at Ellie's house playing with Levi. Alexander and Leo had spent the whole day cleaning the fire pit and washing down the patio. I had spent most the day making her birthday cake. She wanted a Tinker Bell cake. It took the whole morning to make and then decorate but, in the end, it came out amazing. By the time the cake was down outside was already decorated and ready for a party. The boys were busy setting up the fire when Krystel and Michael had turned up with the twins. Leo started dinner with Michael's help. Krystel and I both grabbed a drink while the new parents came through the gate. The twin girls were asleep and ended up being put in the spare room to sleep. Everyone was sitting around the fire pit chatting when Ellie brought in the birthday girl and her best friend. She ran straight into my arms with a smile going from ear to ear. 

Our backyard looked like a fairy wonderland. All of the trees and bushes were full of fairy lights and streamers. Her sand pit had also been converted into and tiny forest. Ellie even managed to get her and Levi into fairy costumes. I put her down and she ran over to Alexander who was dressed as Terence from Tinker Bell. I had spent a whole month creating his costume ready for Celest's birthday. He sprinkled pixie dust over Celest before scooping her up and asking what she truly wished for. What she said surprised all of us. Celest responded with "I wish that I can find my soulmate so I can dance like my mummy". I scooped her up and whispered in her ear "When your time is ready the right person will walk into your life and never leave". The party got started when the rest of Celest's best friends came through the gate. Celest ran over to Skyler and Evie nearly toppling them over. Her present table was full of presents of different colors and sizes. 

All the parents cracked open an ice-cold drink and sat around watching the kids. Alexander was dressed up as Terence and his girlfriend Willow was dressed up as Tinker Bell. They made the cutest couple and I still couldn't believe he was going to be 12 in grade 7. It made me feel really old. By the end of the night all the kids were full of sugar and playing in the sand pit. Alexander and Willow were curled up in the moon chair on the other side of the fire pit. Leo had me in his arms and was rocking me with the tune of Can't Help Falling In Love With You – Elvis Presley. Everyone ended up around the fire laughing and sharing stories. 

The radio was playing classic songs when What a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong came on and Leo picked me up and took me to the grass. We took off our shoes and slowly made our way to the middle of the yard. Alexander and Willow were soon to follow our lead. In the end almost everyone was dancing bare foot on the grass to the radio. I took one glance at Ellie to see her sitting on her own. My face had the biggest smirk which lead Leo to ask why. My reply came straight through our gate. I may have texted William to come and cheer her up. He walked straight up to her and took her hand. They both made their way to the grass and squished between Leo and I and Krystel and Michael. Everyone was enjoying a slow dance and even Celest and Levi were dancing. The song finished and everyone slowed to a stop and got ready for the next song. 

To everyone's surprise the next song happened to be Counting Stars – OneRepublic. Leo ran inside and got Alexander's guitar and got two chairs. Alexander started us off and soon both Ellie and I were singing to the beat while Celest and Levi danced. Everyone started to gather around us and soon most of the neighborhood turned up and joined in with the party. Leo controlled the lights and even broke out the smoke machine. The smoke started to settle and the once we sung the lyric "Take that money and watch it burn. Sink in the river the lessons I learned" Willow leaped through the smoke cloud. She looked like an angel. The way she moved with grace and how she matched every beta perfectly made me dream. Alexander was so lucky to have her by his side. She even brought Celest into the middle and danced around her before putting her on her back. Willow truly had a pure heart and soul. Once we finished the song both Ellie and I chugged a cruiser. I noticed Leo smiling in the back of the crowd where he controlled the lighting. 

We got back to the middle and performed one last song which was A Million Dreams – Pink. Together Alexander and I performed it in perfect unison. "Cause every night I lie in bed. The brightest colours fill my head. A million dreams are keeping me awake. I think of what the world could be. A vision of the one I see. A million dreams is all its gonna take. A million dreams for the world we're gonna make." Singing with my son made my heart explode with happiness. Sharing this special moment in my life with everyone made me proud. We finished and I collapsed in tears where Alexander embraced me in his arms before lifting me up to bow to the audience. The party moved out the street where everyone put tables out running all the way down to Ellie's house. Leo and I cuddled next to each other very proud of our family and the life we have created together.
