Alec was sitting at the breakfast table in the Institute. Izzy walked over to him, and slid a plate in front of him. Alec's eyes closed then opened back again, focusing on the food before him.
"Iz, what's this?" He asked, poking the food with his fork. "Please don't tell me you made it."
"I didn't make it," she said, sliding into the seat across from him.
"It's take-out." Jace said from beside him. "Much better," Isabelle glared at him before stabbing her food.
"Violent." Alec commented as he scooped some of his food into his mouth.
Just then, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, he pulled it out and set it on the table. He typed it in the password, and opened his messages. It was Magnus.
"Oooooh, who is it?" Jace leaned over.
"Don't be nosy, Jace." Isabelle said, then she looked at Alec, who had a faint smile on his face. "Ohmigosh, it's Magnus! It's Magnus, isn't it?"
Alec didn't reply, not even to Jace's mock of kissing noises.
"OTP! I ship it so much! MALEC! They're just so- would you shut up Jace?" Isabelle glared at him.
He stopped the annoying noises. "Why, was I interrupting your fangirling?"
"Yes!"
"Guys, shut up, I'm trying to read the message." Alec said. They both stopped bickering, and stared at him. He didn't notice, he was too absorbed in Magnus' message.
We haven't hung out since the date at the restaurant maybe you would like to come over tonight to my party? it'll be fun, promise. ;)
"Are we doing anything tonight?" Alec asked.
"Clary's not around and I thought maybe the three of us could go shadowhunting, like old times." Jace said.
Alec felt slightly sad, he had wanted to go with Magnus, but shadowhunting was his job. Plus, they were his sister and parabatai.
"Why?" Izzy asked.
"Magnus invited me to a party tonight, but we should go shadowhunting."
"Thanks for choosing me over that glittery disco ball of a man." Jace said.
"I'm going to tell him you said that," Alec retorted, beggining to reply to the text.
"You know, if we finish early you could still go over there. His parties go late." Izzy suggested. "Plus, you mustn't seperate the Malec." Jace rolled his eyes. Luckily Isabelle didn't see him.
Sorry I can't come. Busy with Iz & Jace. Maybe another time? :)
Alec bit his lip and typed a heart emoji, debated in it, deleted it, put it back, took it away. He didn't know whether he should send it or not.
"What?" Izzy asked, noticing how intently Alec was staring at his screen.
"Heart emoji or no heart emoji?" He asked, completely serious.
She laughed. "It doesn't matter Alec, just pick something." Jace snorted.
"Not attractive," Alec chortled.
Alec quickly added the heart and sent the message before he could change his mind. He immediately regretted it. Wonder if he seemed to flirty, or too pushy....
"Alec!" Isabelle called, snapping him out of his thoughts. "It's just a little heart on a screen."
Alec sighed, she was right. He shouldn't worry so much.
