Shadows Pov
My alarm blares, startling me awake. Sometimes I wish I could just throw the damn thing out the window. I crack an eye open and read 5:00 am off of the digital screen of my clock. As if I don't wake up at this time every morning.
Sluggishly rising, I make my way to the kitchen to find something to eat. The fridge is empty. My stomach growls in protest, so I grasp that it's feeling pretty empty as well. Well, I guess I'll just have to stop and grab something on the way to work.
My next stop is the bathroom. I hope that this shower will wake me up a bit. If not, coffee it is.
When I get out of the shower, I feel a bit more awake. I could still use some coffee, though. Soon I'm ready to leave my house, so I grab my keys off of the coat rack at my front door and head out.
Ever since Mobius has been at peace, I decided that I could try to live in the city for a few years. I wanted to see what the hype about living out here is. Also, seeing as I'm no longer a criminal, its fair game.
Today I think that I just may have found the great excitement that these city dwellers seek. The second I walk out of my apartment, I see a group of people surrounding something on the sidewalk across from my house.
I find this annoying for two reasons. One, they're way too close to my car. Two, It's like 5:30 in the morning what are all of these people doing up?
After a few short moments of frustration, I suck it up and walk towards my car. If I'm late, my boss won't let me hear the end of it. As I get closer to the scene, my curiosity gets the best of me. I peek over someone's shoulder just a bit and see that a person is lying passed out in the middle of everyone. At first, I decide to ignore it. With all of these people here, someone's sure to call an ambulance. But, something makes me take a second glance, and I realize that I know this unconscious person.
"Rose," I call. A man standing in front of me turns around. He's an older cat man, and he looks just as confused as the others standing around.
"Do you know her?" He asks me. I calmly nod my head at him and start walking through people until I reach the pink hedgehog. I start by checking her pulse, and it seems to be there but slowed slightly.
"Hey, you need to wake up now." I try shaking her awake, but she is unresponsive. My head hurts a little as I think what a setback in time this is going to cause. But, I can't just leave her here. Out of everyone just standing around, I know that I will make sure she gets to a hospital safely. So, after some in-depth thinking, I decide I'm going to do what I know is right. I'll deal with my boss later.
I bend down, taking the pink hedgehog into my arms. If I wait for an ambulance, it will take more time. It would be faster if I take my car, but there is still a chance of early morning traffic. My next best idea is to run, but breaking sound barriers with an unconscious girl in my arms doesn't sound good at all. The fastest and safest plan that I have is to use Chaos Control and teleport to the hospital.
At first, I struggle to hold Amy and take the Chaos Emerald out of my pocket, but after a few seconds of uncomfortable bending, I finally manage to get a hold of it. The crowd of people, who for some reason haven't dispersed yet, stare in awe.
"Chaos Control." In seconds I am standing in front of the hospital doors. My stomach churns a little. I haven't used Chaos Control in a while. My body isn't built for it like it used to be.
As I walk through the sliding doors, the receptionist at the desk immediately looks up.
"I'll have a stretcher out as soon as possible." Her eyes grow large as she says this. Does she not see guys walking in with a passed-out girl in their arms every day? That was a joke, by the way.
