Shadow's Pov

"Take this next left," Amy points, once again in the direction she wants me to go.

"Where the hell are we going, Rose?"

"I told you it's a surprise."

I don't like surprises.

"Stop pouting, we're almost there."

"Pouting?" I raise an eyebrow at the pink hedgehog in my passenger seat.

"Yes Pouting. "

"I don't pout." I face back towards the road as I try and regain my normal nonchalant attitude.

"Sure you don't." She chuckles.

"I don't pout, Rose."

"Ok, I get it. The big bad hedgehog doesn't pout. Take this next right." I easily maneuver the car to the right. The turn is a little sharp so she has to hold onto the roof handle.

"Jesus, try not to kill us pouty!" She shrieks.

"No back seat driving."

"I'm in the front seat dumbass!"

...

About 10 minutes later we pull up in front of an amusement park.

"This was the big surprise?" I ask her, as I park.

"Yup! I knew you'd love it."

I can't help gazing fondly at her as one of her glowing smiles appears on her face. Honestly, I don't like amusement parks, too many people come to places like this. But if she's this happy to be here I guess I can go a few hours outside of my comfort zone.

We walk over toward the entrance and stand in line behind these two foxes. They hold hands and the girl stares up with red cheeks at the boy who's grinning down at her. He leans in closer to her muzzle before planting a gentle kiss on her lips. By the end of it, even her ears are red.

"Jesus." I gag.

"They're so cute," Amy whispers in my ear. When I look down at her she is staring adoringly at the couple with a sparkle in her eye. I continue to look at her and the words pop into my head 'Not as cute as you Rose.'

I catch myself off guard. What did I just say? Why would I say that?

"You ok, Shadow?" She's looking up at me with her doe eyes that never fail at melting me just a bit.

"Ya, I'm fine." She gives me a wary look before letting a small smile curve her lips.

"Okay."

We make it to the front after what feels like forever of standing in that line. Rose reaches for her wallet to pay for her ticket but I stop her. "My treat."

"Shadow you don't have to. You already do enough for me as it is."

Even so, I keep a hold of her hand and pull out my own wallet from my back pocket.

"If I let go of you to take out my card you can't try and pay for yourself," I say sternly. She stares back at me before heaving a heavy sigh.

"Fine." She relents.

"Good Rose."

"I'm not your dog idiot." She shouts a bit too loud.

"That's no way to talk to the man paying for your ticket." I scoff.

She looks around at the few people who are staring at her now and turns beet red.

"Shut up." She mumbles.
