On one of the castle's balcony, the King of Royaume was leaning against the golden rails with his elbows — looking at the immensely beautiful brine sea with the distant look and his thoughts elsewhere. The zephyr tousled his blond hair and the coolness hit his slight tan face.

He did that ever since the incident with his evil relatives. Because of them, he lost his great treasure.

' Well, at least he's safe there and that's what matters.' The king thought and smiled unconsciously at the sea.

"Your majesty." The king turned to see the maid, Lisa standing by the doorway of the balcony.

"Yes, Lisa?"

"Your father requested for your presence in his chamber." Lisa said and smiled sadly at the prince.

Those days, the former king was falling ill. The royal doctor always came to his father's chamber for a check-up or to prescribed him with medicines. His mother was always there by his side — spending their times together before his father's time ended.

That's why when the former prince had turned twenty - one, the coronation happened and the prince was now the new King of Royaume. The responsibilities were on him now.
It had been five years of his reigning. However, the dilemma about the disappearance of the sailors and fishermen were not yet solved. It was stressing the new King out.

Once the new King stood in front of the double doors, he took a deep breath and knocked it.

"Come in." He felt a lump coming to his throat when he heard his father's weak voice and a cough.

The King opened the door and went inside, then closing it behind him.

He looked up and felt his heart cracked when he saw his frail father on his bed and his mother, Soyeon beside him, holding his wrinkled hand.

"Hello, dad."

His father looked up and smiled weakly at his son. "Namjoon, my son, come here." He said softly while beckoning him to come to him.

Namjoon slowly walked towards his bed and sat at the other side of the bed, holding his other hand.

Ryun, his father, stayed quiet and licked his dried lips.

"You're sad, my son." He stated and rubbed Namjoon's knuckles with his thumb gently.

"Of course, I do. You're going to leave us." Namjoon replied with tears building up in his eyes.

Soyeon, Namjoon's mother, cried and clutched the king's hand tightly.

"I may be gone but never in your hearts." Ryun said and looked at Soyeon with a loving smiled.

He grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles before looking back at his son.

"And I believe that you are sad for another reason."

Namjoon looked down at his father's frail hand and gulped to swallow the lump that was starting to form in his throat before looking up at him again.
"I - I still miss him. It's been five years, father and I still love him." The current king started to cry.

Soyeon stood up and walked around the bed and sat down beside her son. Then, she hugged him from behind and rubbed his back.

"Us too, my son. Jin was like a son to us and made us realized that not all mermaids were bad." Soyeon said softly and smiled sadly.

The moon came to the sky as the darkened and the sun rested. Stars started to litter in the dark heavens as the moon shone brightly down to the land and the sea.
