Part 13- max is moving in

It took many weeks to get max to open up about what happened with neil. Max has been sleeping over at els/mikes and lucas's house a lot and when she does go home she doesn't speak to her parents as often. On a monday after school max was at els/mikes house-
Max: you won't believe what i got
El: oh no what is it
Max: i videotaped neil yelling at me and uh hitting me and i don't know if i should turn it into the cops or what but this could get me out
El: wait oh my gosh, how late are you staying over tonight
Max: uh till like 9
El: ok i know this is random but you can't tell anyone im saying this, i got a call from joyce and she said she got a really good job offer from a place in hawkins and is moving back and jonathan is moving out because him and nancy are getting married so what if joyce could adopt you max
Max: wait seriously?
El: she's moving in on wednesday, it's the house down the street i believe
Max: wait can we call her
El: yes so that she can turn the video in and that gives us a bigger chance of her being able to let you live with her
*they call joyce and she agreed finally to help them and possibly let max live with her*
El: wait we can't tell anyone else until we give joyce the video, and are you ok like did he hurt you
Max: well yeah he hurt me but im used to it
*time skip to wednesday*
Mike: wait el why is joyce in the driveway with will
El: surprise, they're moving back!
Mike: wait what
El: she got a good job offer
Mike: Does that mean you're moving out?
El: yeah but we're moving into the house that's literally 2min away on your bike
Later on that day Max came over and gave Joyce the video, they turned it into the cops and they arrested Neil and gave Max the option to live with her mom, live with Joyce, or live with her aunt. Max chose joyce, signed the papers and they started moving in to the new house
*time jump to friday after they signed the papers*
Max: thank you so much joyce *she starts crying*
Joyce: anything for you max, that house was a hell hole
El: Does this mean I have Max as a sister now?
Joyce: legally yes, blood wise no
El: how many rooms are in the house
Joyce: uh only 3 so you and max i figured could share a room
Max: that's perfect, thank you so much
Will: welcome to the family max *hugs her*
Max: oh and if it's ok with you guys i would love to change my last name
Joyce: i'd love that max
