Chapter 1
*** HARRY'S POINT OF VIEW. ***
I knew something was up when my mum called me to the kitchen table that one late summer afternoon in August. I sat down in the in the mahogany chair, at the other end of the table is where my mum sat. We were waiting on my sister Gemma to come downstairs. Her arrival took way too long, so I played with the salt and pepper shakers on the table.
"Harry, please put those down." my mom pleaded as she took a sip of her tea. I rolled my eyes and put the shakers back in their original place.
"Oh my gosh, Gemma! Get down here!" I yelled after becoming very impatient. My mom and I sat there for another ten minutes when I remembered, Gemma was out with her boyfriend. "Mom, Gemma is out with her boyfriend." I said as I laid my head down on the table.
"Oh, well I guess I'll have to tell her later. But Harry I need to tell you something." My mom said while tightly gripping her fingers around her coffee cup. I titled my head up so that my eyes met my mums. "Harry, I don't know how to tell you this but...we're moving to America." my mum said, her words echoed in my mind. We're moving to America, we're moving to America, we're moving to America. I sat there and honestly thought that my life was over, I can't just pick up everything and move. I planned on graduating here, going to college in England, starting a family here. But all that is flushed down the drain, now I have to move to another foreign land.
"When do we leave?" I asked.
"I already bought a house in Missouri, we have to be out of this house in 2 weeks." my mum said as she got up to put her cup in the sink.
"I have a question, why are we moving?" I asked.
"We're moving because I got a job transfer." my mum said, "We better start packing. I would like to get all of this packing done and over with." I slowly got up from the chair and walked upstairs to my room. I started pulling all of my clothes out of my closet and dresser, I placed all of my clothes on my bed and realized. I have a lot of clothes. My mom came in with boxes, handed them to me and left. That's when I knew that this was really happening.
*** SADIE'S POINT OF VIEW. ***
It was the second week of school, I was sitting in homeroom when Mr. Brayber said "Boys and girls, I would like to inform you that we are getting a new student sometime soon. I don't know the young man’s name but he is moving here from England. Please, I beg of you, be nice to him. He might be confused for a couple of days because everything that flows in America is much different than what happens in England. We drive on the left side of the road, they drive on the right. They drink tea and eat crumpets, we drink coffee and doughnuts."
"That explains why you're so fat." Louis said under his breath. I started to laugh uncontrollably.
"Ms. Haynes, is everything alright?" Mr. Brayber said while giving me this disturbing look.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Louis just told me a funny joke that's all." I said while going back to working on my algebra homework. I was finishing up the last problem when a wad of paper hit me in the back of the neck. I turned around to find a big paper ball lying on the floor behind my chair. I picked up the paper snowball and read the message:
What did Lou say?
-Bing
Chandler Joplin, one of my best friends. She's something alright. We've been best friends since the summer before going into 8th grade. We have so much in common, so we're like twins. But she's a blond, I'm a brunette, her eyes can change from blue to green, while mine stay blue with big pupils. She taken by Niall, while I'm sitting here like a bump on a log. She chants in front of a huge crowd of football fans, while I listen to the almost nonexistent clapping when I hit the little white ball into the hole. She's the best batter on the softball team, I'm the pitcher. Her nickname is Bing, like Chandler Bing from the show Friends. I don't know where I would be without my twin.
