Chapter 18
*** SADIE'S POINT OF VIEW. ***
I was walking along the sidewalk, the breeze blew my hair back. The red, orange, and brown leaves from the trees blew in the wind. I love this time of year, it just makes me happy. When I finally reached Aunt Rhonda's house, I walked up the front sidewalk. I was looking at the Halloween decorations Rhonda had up. I walked up to the front door and knocked a few times.
"SANIE!" Cooper said, looking at me through the window.
"Hey, come on in!" David said, wiping his hands with a towel and then sticking the towel in his belt.
"Thanks." I said, walking into the house. Cooper came running over to me, I picked up and we walked to the kitchen.
"Mom, look!" Cooper said.
"Hey there! Did you have fun at Harry's?" Rhonda asked, stirring something in a pot that she had on the stove.
"Yep! Harry and I are back together again!" I said, sitting Cooper down on the counter.
"Well that's good! You hungry? I'm cooking a big pot full of spaghetti if you want some!" Rhonda said, scooping some spaghetti into a little bowl for Cooper.
"Yeah, I'm hungry." I said, sitting down on a bar stool. Rhonda gave Cooper and I our bowls of spaghetti, we sat there and made a huge mess. We both had spaghetti sauce all over our faces!
After supper, David gave Cooper a bath. After David was done with that, he came in the kitchen where Rhonda and I were.
"Okay, so you ready for your news?" David asked, leaning against sink.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I said. David and Rhonda looked at each other. "What? I said I'm ready!"
"Your mother came over this morning." Rhonda said. I nodded my head, she continued. "Your mom said that next month, her and your dad will be flying out to Las Vegas for about a month."
"Why?" I asked.
"Your mom said something about your dad's softball team is going to a month long tournament. But they didn't want you staying home alone...they were going to take you with them until I suggested that you stayed here." David said.
"Yes, and your mom thought that was a great idea." Rhonda said.
"Okay." I said.
Rhonda got down to my level and said, "Since your parents will be gone for a whole month, I figured that you and Harry will be spending every minute with each other. Right?" I nodded my head once again. "Thought so, so I'm going to tell you something. This is the part that I think that you will like."
"Well, I'm all ears." I said, sitting up a little straighter.
"After she left, I realized that we only have two bedrooms in the house. Then I realized that you are a grown, smart woman so I'm going to let you stay at your house. Like you can come over here during the day and then at night you can go over to your house and sleep. Unless I need you to babysit or something in that nature. I don't care if you have Harry over, I don't care if he comes over here, I don't care if you two hang out at your place but here is something I do care about." Rhonda explained.
"And that is?" I asked.
"Don't be getting freaky between the sheets." David said, in some weird voice...he sounded like Gollum from The Hobbit.
I covered my face, I could feel it burning. "Uncle Dave!" I squealed.
"What? He's right! I don't want you two over there, getting out of control. I don't care if you two are over there...just don't let Harry put his piece of bread in your oven." Rhonda said.
"Oh my gosh, okay. I'm done with this conversation! I'm leaving!" I said, laughing with embarrassment.
"Awe, look at Squirt's face! It's getting so red!" Uncle David said, walking up to me and pinching my cheeks.
"Dave stop, let the girl go. See you tomorrow night? Yay....nay?" Rhonda asked.
"You'll most likely see me tomorrow night! Thanks for supper! Bye guys, bye Cooper!"
"Bye Sanie! Tell Harry I said hi!" Cooper said before I walked out the door.
<<THURSDAY>>
*** HARRY'S POINT OF VIEW. ***
Louis, Eleanor, and I were sitting at the lunch table in the cafeteria. Louis and I were putting our last finishing touches on our volcano.
"It looks good, boys." Eleanor said, admiring our volcano.
"Thanks! I think it turned out pretty good!" Louis said. Louis and I made a dark grey volcano with lime green lava. Hey, Mrs. Eckert said she wanted it to be different.
"Harry, we have a problem." Sadie said, approaching me and throwing her bags down.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"My parents are going to let me date." Sadie said, she had a terrified look on her face.
I started smiling, I hugged Sadie and swung her around, she got really tense.
"What's wrong?" I asked, smiling so big that my cheeks started to hurt. "Aren't you happy?!"
"No, not really." Sadie said.
My heart got heavy, "What?! Why?! I thought you loved me!" I shouted.
"Harry, sit down." Sadie said, sitting down and tugging on my wrist. "Last night, Clay came over so we could work on our science project. He came early and he had dinner with us. My parents really like him. So last night when he left my parents said that they are going to let me date...but they have to pick who I date. And they pick Clay."
You have got to be kidding me.
