Chapter 28

*** HARRY'S POINT OF VIEW. ***

It was Wednesday. I was so sore due to basketball practice every day after school and the occasional playing football with Cooper. Our first basketball game was tonight, it was going to be an away game. We were playing against North Port. I assume that our rival town is North Port because it's always a big deal when we play against them. We are going to beat the North Port Blue Jays!

I was sitting in the locker room after gym. I was getting dressed and talking to my good friend Ed. Ed is a tall, red headed boy. He had a little bit of built on him. He wasn't a muscle man; he had a little meat on his stomach. But he was a cool guy.

"How's basketball practice going?" Ed asked.

"Oh, you know the usual. It's very tiring." I said, taking off my sweaty, stinky gym shirt. "Do you do any sports?"

"Last year I did a lot of sports. But then I turned seventeen and I discovered fast food and beer...and now I'm not that active. But yeah, I sing...if you count that as a sport. I mean, you work out your throat so my throat is pretty buff." Ed said, taking off his shirt as well.

"Hah! I'm thinking about doing baseball this spring. Either that or-"

"Shut up for a second, lad." Ed said, cutting me off. I watched Ed as he pressed his ear against a locker. A few minutes passed and he looked at me out of the corner of his eye. Then he sat down, motioning me to come closer. "Listen."

I put my ear against the locker and listened. I couldn't really hear anything.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Apparently there's a rumor going around about you." Ed whispered.

"What's the rumor about?" I asked, whispering as well.

"Rumor has it that you and Sadie Haynes got it on last Saturday night."

"What? No way! I'm not going to be getting it on with anyone until after I'm married." I snarled.

Ed pressed his ear against the locker again, listened for a few minutes and then said, "Also, rumor has it that while you guys were "getting it on" her five year old cousin sat there and watched it all."

"What the hell, that never happened!" I said, quickly throwing my dry, clean Ramones shirt over my head.

After that I took off my gym shorts and put on my skinny jeans. I took off my gym shoes and slid on my white converse and rapidly tied them. I grabbed my gym clothes and threw them in my gym locker. I grabbed the lock to my locker and locked my locker before walking out of the locker room. (That was a tongue twister.)

Today in social studies, Mr. Brayer got done with our lesson and we were just sitting there. We heard a bunch of commotion in the hallways and Mr. Brayer walked out of the classroom to see what was going on.

"Hey, can I talk to you?" I asked.

"Yeah. What's up?" Sadie asked.

"Have you heard the rumors about us?" I asked, biting my lip apprehensively.

"Uh, no. What did Olivia start now?" Sadie sighed.

"I don't know if Olivia started them. But the rumor is that last Saturday, we uh...had sex and Cooper watched the whole thing." I whispered.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me!" Sadie said, placing her face in her hands. "That never happened! I mean, yeah...we went home and started kissing in Rhonda's room but then stopped when we heard Cooper coming in. We stopped after that but that other stuff never happened!"
