Chapter 43
*** SADIE'S POINT OF VIEW. ***
Cooper sat on my lap as I sat on the floor in front of the Christmas tree at my grandparents house. Abbi and Shelby sat next to me as the little ones opened their Christmas presents. Wrapping paper and boxes were flying everywhere.
"So, how's Harry?" Abbi whispered.
"He's fine!" I said, while helping Cooper tear off a piece of tape from his present.
"What did he get you for Christmas?" Shelby asked.
"He got me Warped Tour tickets! Plus a few other things." I said, Abbi and Shelby smiled.
"Whoa! Sanie, look!" Cooper shouted, "It's a rug that looks like a bear!"
I felt the soft rug as my grandma came over and said, "Santa told me that he brought you this rug so you can put it in your room at the cabin!"
"I love it!" Cooper said, smiling from ear to ear.
Cooper sat the rug on his lap and pulled the top of it up to his chest, acting like it was a blanket. He kept saying how warm it was and how soft it was. Every once in a while he would talk to the bear head that was attached at the one end of the rug. He named the bear Bruce and talked to him as if he were a long lost friend.
"Hey y'all!" Rhonda hollered, everyone looked up from their presents to look at her. "Dinner's ready!"
Everyone jumped up from their spots and ran into the kitchen to grab a plate. Cooper hopped up from my lap and I stood up, we both walked to the kitchen with his hand cupped in mine. We walked into the kitchen and there was a huge line of people filling their plates.
"Hey, hey, hey!" My dad said, walking into my grandparents house.
"Hey dad." I said, leaning against the wall.
"Looks like I came just in time, dinner is ready!" My dad said, smiling.
"Yep, there's a line so you might have to wait a while." I said.
"Oh," he said, "not a problem!"
My dad, Cooper, and I stood around and talked for a while before we realized that the line was moving. I picked Cooper up as we got to the counter with the plates on it.
"Okay bud, what do you want to eat?" I asked.
"Did gram make pizza?" Cooper asked.
"Uh...no. But she made ham, mashed potatoes, and a whole bunch of other foods you like." I said.
"Did she make noodles?" Cooper asked.
"Yes, she sure did." I said, grabbing a fork from the counter. "You want some noodles?"
"Yes please!" Cooper said.
Cooper and I walked around the kitchen and filled his plate with food. After his plate was covered with food, we walked into the dining room and I sat him down in his chair. I put his plate down on the table and went into the kitchen so I could fix my plate. Once I was done fixing my plate I walked into the dining room and sat down by Cooper.
Cooper was telling Rhonda and our grandma the story about him getting his concert tickets and how Harry was taking him to the concert.
"Oh, how is Harry?" my grandma asked.
"He's fine. But, keep him on the down low...my dad doesn't know about him." I said, smiling shyly at my grandma.
"Your secret is safe with me." my grandma said, reaching her hand across the table and placing it on top of mine. "What's he doing tonight?"
