As a manager in training, I nervously stood beside my sempai as I fiddled with my own fingers.

The boy's volleyball team is having a match and so far, it wasn't looking that good.  I watched as the red numbers on the scoreboard flicker, it's numbers changing.

Nekoma, 20.

Fukurodani, 17.

"Uh oh, here we go again." My sempai mumbled as our team coach signaled for a time-out.

A high whistle echoed in my ears, signaling a time-out. I watched as the team huddled together in a circle, but there was one figure that stuck out from the bunch.

His back slouched as his usual cheery smile now replaced with a solemn expression. He dragged his feet on the floor, looking a zombie in a horror movie.

Bokuto Kotaro.

He was quite an engima ever since I joined the club. The amount of cheerful energy he has was quite amazing. Being a sempai, he was quite courteous at the same time easy to approach. Whenever we bump into each other in school, he would always offer me a bright smile as he reeled me in with a conversation.

" Akaashi," the spiky-grey haired captain muttered, audible enough for the setter to hear.

The black-haired boy lightly tilted his head to side, a sign of him listening.

"I'm not in my zone."  The frown deepened in Bokuto's face.

"Yes, I could see that." The boy replied curtly.

Since it was my first time seeing a sad expression on him, it was quite appalling to see since I got used to seeing his bright smile no matter what.

I guess he has his downfalls at times.

"Emo Bokuto strikes again." My sempai let out a weak laugh, clearly used to this type of phenomenon.

I turned my head to her direction, shooting a look of confusion and worry.

"Will he be okay?"

Her eyes made contact with mine, a small smile formed on her lips.

"He'll be fine. He'll get back to his own feet sooner or later." She reassured me then glanced at the team, a calm look plastered on her face.

As expected from sempai! So reliable!

"Oh (L/n), Akaashi calling you."

I turned my head towards the team's direction, my eyes scanning for Akaashi's figure. Upon finding him, my eyes widened in confusion. He was pointing to my direction as Bokuto stared back at me, his  yellow eyes lacked of his usual cheerful luster.

'Cheer him up,' the setter mouthed to me.

Oh! I see!

I cupped both sides of my mouth,  preparing myself to yell out encouraging words to the captain.

"YOU CAN DO IT BOKUTO-SAN!" I yelled on the top of my lungs.

I could feel the heat rise on my cheeks as all eyes turned to my direction, staring holes at me.

Omg, was I that loud?

I mentally cursed at myself as I started figeting with own fingers.

The captain's back straightened, his solemn expression now exchanged with a look of shock. Akaashi beside him whispered something in his ear, making his yellow eyes regain its usual brightness.
