They arrived at the tower soon.
"What do we do now?" George asked.
"Wait?" Jarred suggested.
"Wow," a familiar voice said behind them. "You came all the way here to see the most wonderful and powerful wizard pig them all, and you want to wait? Just pathetic!"
They turned around to see Zaecondis in the flesh and blood, with Xanolemnad behind him.
Xanolemnad bowed. "I led them to you, Zae."
"Thanks Xan! Now I'm finally going to kill them, and it'll be unfair since they don't know how to kill me!"
"Wrong!" Daiko said, holding up her book. "I know how to kill you now!"
Zaecondis just smiled. "I bet you're bluffing."
Now, Daiko didn't want to tell her friends the whole reason on how to defeat Zaecondis because they would jump to conclusions. So, she just said, "It has to do something with Xan and something he's carrying."
Zaecondis froze. He was still smiling, but it seemed more pained now. He turned to Xanolemnad and said, "RUN, XAN!!!" They both ran past the Caravan and into the tower.
"After them!" Daiko shouted. She opened her book and started to read so that she could know what happens next. However, she was temporarily unavailable because of this, so George picked her up princess style and the six of them chased after the brothers.
They soon came to a fork in the road. "Which way did they go, Daiko?" Jarred asked.
She opened her book and skimmed a couple of pages. Then, she bit her lip. "Great. They split up." Then she turned to the Caravan. "We're going to have to split up too."
She pointed down the left fork. "Hearthfell, George, Mary. You three work best as a team. Go down that way to face Xanolemnad. But be careful. He mostly uses combat skills, and when he does use magic, it's deadly. You have to defeat him in order for us to get the key to defeat Zaecondis."
She pointed down the right fork. "Bella, Jarred, we're going down that path to face Zaecondis. We just need to weaken him until the others defeat Xanolemnad."
They all nodded in reply.
They went their separate ways.
