Chapter 40: The missing piece

Before you can ask pawan, the missing piece of the puzzle means that it's the answer to all the mysteries.

"Everyone, meet Anne Marie Elvengard. Anne, these are the people of the Caravan I belong to, Jarred, Bella, my twin Mary, her husband Hearthfell, and Daiko." That was George talking as he showed the Caravan a woman around his age with short, pale blond hair and wearing casual clothes.

She grinned. "Nice to meetcha!"

Hearthfell nudged George. "Now you can't tease me about falling into the trap of love!"

That caused them to fight again.

But Daiko was looking at Anne strangely. To everyone's horror, she rapped Anne lightly on the head and said, "Ignelsa, Metatron, jig's up. Come out."

Anne closed her eyes, and she morphed into... a red cat and and a red headed girl.

Metatron scratched her ear. "You figured us out! I guess you should've figured it out..."

Daiko put her hands on her hips. "Get to the point. Why you're pretending to be George's girlfriend?"

Metatron giggled.  "Anne was really George's girlfriend in the book, remember? But we somehow forgot to add her in this world, so Ignelsa decided to help out! Besides, she really likes George because he looks like Frosch with his pink hair!"

Metatron was picked up by Ignelsa and dragged away. Ignelsa tried her best to look sheepish, and Metatron said, "Oh, Ignelsa wants to all you something George: do you hate me now?"

George pondered it for a moment, then said, "No, I don't. I actually like you this way better than before, so feel free to keep it this way."

Ignelsa just nodded, but Metatron also squealed. Then Metatron turned to Daiko. "Today's supposed to be the day that was Christmas back on Aqua, right? Look inside your book for a present!"

Daiko opened her book and started skimming. Then, near the end of the book, her eyes widened and she said, "Wait a moment... This never has happened before."

She looked up at Metatron. "Thank you, and Merry Christmas! Shouldn't I give you a gift?"

Metatron shook her head. "No, you already did. Our gift was that you helped Ignelsa have the courage to reveal herself, and she also had a nice surprise when she did. Now, bye!"

She turned to George. "Oh, Ignelsa says that she'll talk to you later!"

Ignelsa picked Metatron up, and they teleported out of there.

Daiko closed her book. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go prepare for fighting Zaecondis."

They all looked at her. "What?!"

They all sat around in a circle, excluding Daiko of course.

"What should we do?" Bella asked. "We're close to Zaecondis's tower. She's going to run away in order to fight him. Plus, it's been four years, so he's going to come back to life soon."

"I know. That's why I'm going now."

They all turned to look at Daiko. "Are you saying your goodbyes," asked Jarred.

She shook her head. "No, I was going to ask if you can come with me."

They were all surprised. Daiko sighed, saying, "Alex is right. I should never do this alone. And I should listen to him, since we're going to see him again soon."

Hearthfell stood up quickly. "Wait, how?"

Daiko held up her book. "Metatron magically put in the rest of what Lu Alec was going to write if he stayed alive, and it makes perfect sense now. I know finally how to defeat him."

I'm able to write this at the crack of dawn because I'm waiting to open presents with my sister and we have to wait another hour.
