It has been almost two months since I bonded with the 'Im' siblings and a month since the Provincials started. It's almost finishing and again, I'll proudly say that I'm competing for the champion title.
"Good luck, Choi!" The team cheered me before I stepped inside the mattings. I faced my opponent and waited for the referee's instruction. Soon after, he blew the whistle and started the round.
My opponent is taller than me. Taller than Jay and CL. I'm looking up at her and watched her moves. I watched her fight before and I can say that she have impressive strength but she's kind of slow and has low stamina.
I blocked her attack when she threw a punch on me. I jumped and gave her a forceful punch on her face. She stepped back a bit before attacking again. She tried to kick me on my body but I jumped and gave her a knee on her face. Jumping is quite harder than giving punches.
She fell down which is counted as one knock-down. She stood up and faced me. Before she can even attack again, I swept her feet off, two knock-downs in total. I smirked and gave her a full-blow punch when she tried to stand. There it goes, three knock-downs. I won the provincials.
But as the crowd cheered, I felt nothing but emptiness. I roamed my eyes around the arena and saw the same person wearing a hoodie, mask, and sunglasses two months ago. I don't know if he/she is staring at me or what. I can't identify the gender too since that person is really great on hiding their identity.
"Congratulations!" Jay hugged me. I smiled at her and thanked her. I received a medal and a trophy, again.
The whole team celebrated. We made it to the Regionals.
"Let's celebrate!" We hopped inside the school bus after changing. We'll probably head to some restaurant.
~
As expected, we are currently at a known fried chicken house in the town. The whole team filled almost half of the place. The team got different taekwondo players from different schools in the city. We'll soon represent our Province at the Regionals then, Nationals. My main goal right now is to at least make it to the Nationals. If I do, I'll be able to compete on the upcoming International Olympics two years from now.
"Let's hear a speech from our Champions!" The whole team cheered the different champs from different categories, including me. I was the last one to say my words.
"First of all, thank you to our God, our families, our friends and our dear coaches who guided us. I want to thank everyone for their hardworks. I saw how each one of us put extra efforts to compete in this tournament. And gladly, we'll compete for the upcoming Regionals. Let's do well in the future! Continue our hardwork and strive for the best!" I gave my short speech and sat on my seat. I glanced outside the window as the whole team celebrated.
I was about to look away when I saw that familiar person again. The one in the black hoodie. Fear crept up to me as I saw that person again. Am I being watched? I gulped hard at the thought and diverted my attention to the foods at the table.
I continued to grab and eat the foods. Trying to kick the scene in my mind.
"You okay?" Jay asked.
"Y—Yes." I answered hesitantly.
"Hey, Tell me if there's anything." She patted my shoulder and I just gave her a small smile.
I went silent the whole time and just waited for everyone to finish before we were dropped off to our houses one by one.
"Dad! Mom!" My parents peeked their heads from the kitchen.
"Yes, princess?"
"Prepare yourselves." I showed them the medal and trophy before smiling.
"We'll surely take a leave tomorrow!" Dad muttered with authorization.
"I shall call my secretary and cancel all my whereabouts for tomorrow." He started tapping at his phone.
"Me too!" Mom followed. I just chuckled at their silliness.
"I'll just head upstairs and rest!" I said before quickly running to my room and plopped my body on my soft bed. I exhaled heavily before proceeding to change my clothes.
I glanced at my window and to my horror, the person in black hoodie is there. Staring right at me.
"Fuck!" I immediately close my window and locked it. That person is giving me goosebumps. My hands started to tremble.
Anxiety attacks again! I tried to calm myself. It has been so long since I had this kind of attack. My therapist is doing good in helping me overcome this thing.
I breathed slowly as I closed my eyes. I started to think of some melody to help me calm and hummed it. I continued humming until I felt my heart beats become normal again. I opened my eyes and smiled. I shall thank Erika next time for teaching me this. I mentally noted. A nice timing came, my phone rang.
"Hello?" I spoke. I waited for a few seconds but no one is speaking. I looked at the Caller ID but it's an unknown number.
"Hello?" I said again. All I heard was some breathe before the line cut off.
"Weird." I muttered to myself. I set aside my gadgets and entered my safe haven.
My intruments are unused for the past months because of the tournament. I touched my piano keyboard and pressed some key. An idea popped in my mind.
I hummed the melody I was doing earlier and tried to add some note to it. It took me a while but I got a whole song. I plugged the keyboard to my computer and wore my headphones before pressing the keys.
Soon after, a soft melody with a calming rhythm entered my ears. I set it to an 8D audio before exporting it. I played it through the whole house speakers and let the non-lyrical song took over my worries. I set it on loop before heading downstairs.
I saw my parents and our helpers stopped from what they're doing and closed their eyes. I saw how their chest moved slowly and a smile formed on their lips. After a minute, they opened their eyes with a smile plastered on their faces.
"Where did that came from?" My dad asked, puzzled yet amused.
"I just made that a while ago." I answered.
"New written song of yours?" He asked curiously.
"Nope, dad. I just made that because of my anxiety attacks. You know, to help me calm." I explained briefly.
"It's nice. You achieved your goal, it's calming and soothing." He said and smiled at me.
"By the way, how are you?" He asked me.
"I'm fine." I let out a small smile.
"How are you and Vin?" My small smile faded with his question.
"She...we broke-up couple of months ago."
"Oh. Her mom usually sends foods for us at the company." He informed me.
"Mrs. Shin do that?" Dad nodded with my question.
"It's a sign of gratitude because you take care of her daughter."
"But I guess she likes to be with somebody else instead of me."
