Just because I expected this, doesn't mean I was prepared. Smart Alex stayed inside the classroom with the teacher during class breaks.
During which another new student (according to Kevin, he was introduced before him) named John, revealed his lack of an ability and was therefore ignored by a lot of people for the rest of the classes. Poor guy; seems nice enough.
So when lunch came...all of the arrogant toddlers who were itching to give Alex a piece of their mind exploded and immediately went after her.
It was hundred percent her fault.
Remember her very, uh, interesting introduction? Yeah. They were not going to let it slide. ALEX! HELLO? You can't just casually throw threats at people's faces and expect to get off with consequence. We know you're powerful, but that's just ridiculous.
Here's a fact check for those of you who didn't check out her story (fourth wall break count: 3). . Alex's ability is plain and simple. Manipulation. While using her ability, she is able to manipulate reality or an actual person. Basically, Alex is extremely powerful for a very SHORT period of time. The duration gets even shorter if she's affecting more than one person.
For example, Zeke, the very arrogant idiot who challenged us to a fight this morning. You know, the one we smashed into the ground. Since he was a mid-tier level, Alex could only paralyze him for about 30 seconds. Which is more than enough time for two people to knock him out.
Unfortunately, the time span splits itself when she's affecting more than one person. Therefore her ability is not very powerful against a horde of people. Especially since she isn't very fast.
Knowing this, I drag her out as fast as I can once the bell rings. +100 points if we can get to the cafeteria without dying AND get a piece of the famous triple chocolate cake. I doubt that's going to happen, but a girl can dream.
Trying to prove their dominance, our classmates land a barrage of attacks onto the Alex mirage that I created to buy some time. Haha. Screw you guys. We're OUTTA HERE!
It's a shame that mirage Alex isn't able to show injuries. Maybe that would've kept them occupied for longer. Better yet, they would be satisfied and leave us the HEKC ALONE.
The things I do for friendship. (I'M LOOKING AT YOU KEVIN. STOP CHASING US AND HELP US OUT!!)
And the things Alex does for cake. Sacrificing herself for the chocolate goodness.
"Alyssa! Quick! While they're distracted! Get the cAKE!" she yells, saying cake with a british accent, turning left when the cafeteria is to the right. We split up and I turned into a living, breathing, human sized, beam of light.
Alex disappears and I know what she's going to do. She's probably going to use her ability for a few seconds before booking it again.
My light form runs out and I quickly snatch two pieces of cake up. I'm about to try to balance one more when Kevin appears behind me, clearly disheveled from hanging onto my shirt as I blasted through the crowd. Breathless, he takes one of the plates, leaving only one slice of delectable cake left.
Sighing, I sit down at a table and force Kevin to get lunch for the both of us. Somebody needs to protect this cake and it sure is NOT going to be him. After all, more than half of the people in this room would be happy AND perfectly capable of taking away the shiny piece of rare cake from the shorty sitting all alone at a table.
OH LOOK! It's the rare and elusive uneaten piece of triple chocolate cake!
He comes back with the food just as Alex appears with two others in tow. One redhead and one blond head. "Alyssa! Kevin! Ooh, Kevin, I'm gonna freaking whoop your-"
