Chapter 20: A performance in the city

Thank you for 1522 reads as of when I'm making this. Hopefully my troll last episode wasn't that bad. This chapter follows Serena's POV right after Chapter 18.

-Serena's POV-

5:01 PM and I am on the move. I feel so good, because I am starting to feel like me again. I take a look at the city around me. In 6 years, I haven't felt so free. For once, I pushed aside my worries and focused on the present. "Come on out!" I say, wanting my Pokémon to experience what I experience, to feel what I feel, to see what I see. I spend my time in the city, and it astounds me.

The walls. The windows. The streets. The cars. The people and Pokémon working together. The beauty of it all is astounding. My Pokémon and me walk together. The sounds are music to my ears. It feels so nice. It feels like I am finally free! And then I start running. "Let's go guys!"

We run all the way until we find a restaurant that serves pizza. I order a table for me and my Pokémon, and we order a large cheese pizza. I haven't felt so alive since summer camp. When the pizza arrives, my Pokémon start devouring it. I take a slice myself. And I smile. I smile because I feel so good, so in the moment. 

We walk downtown to hear the music of the city. I find an alley way and caught in the moment, I order my Pokémon to create attacks in the sky. They explode in a beautiful array. "Pancham, use stone edge!" Great big pillars form. "Now let's dance!" And we dance, and I know it would look beautiful. I order Eevee to use Swift, while Fennekin uses ember. But what Fennekin fires isn't ember, it is a fire blast! I smile, as the moves collide and form sparkles in the air. "Now! Let's finish this up! Pancham, dark pulse! Fennekin, Fire Blast! Sylveon, swift!" I say, and the results are beyond anything I could have imagined. This is me. 

When I look up, I see a girl with blue hair clapping. I didn't think anyone was watching. "You know, that was quite the performance."  "Thank you....." I paused, since I didn't know her name. "Oh I'm sorry! I forgot to introduce myself! I am a Lana, and I am a Pokémon Performer, as well as my friend Mallow." "Performer?" I say, looking confused. Lana notices this and explains, "Performances are when you and your Pokémon are in a competition... the competition involves 2 rounds, the Theme Performance and the Freestyle Performance......" and she goes on and on, explaining everything about it, and it actually sounds really fun. "Now, I'm at school, and I'm assuming you are as well. But, there are many performances available during school breaks that you could attend!" "Thanks, I'll be sure to think about it, Lana." "I'll be looking forward to seeing you on stage..." she pauses, not knowing my name. "Serena, and yeah, hopefully we will meet again soon!" And I know that Pokémon Performing will be something that I will enjoy. 

I go to find an ice cream store, because I love ice cream. I order plain vanilla ice cream. I'd always get vanilla, and the boy would always get chocolate. They're both simple yet sweet, but vanilla is better in my opinion. Of course Ash would disagree. Wait why did I mention Ash. I don't exactly know, but it feels right. I feel like I have met him before, but where could I have met him? Then it clicks, and my eyes widen. Could he be? I think he is. Well I don't know for sure yet, so I might as well enjoy the evening. 

I go to the pier with my Pokémon. The sun is setting now. I pull out my bag, and take out a pair of scissors. I will become better for myself and for Ash! And I feel my head get slightly lighter as I watch strands of my long honey hair sailing into the ocean. And I smile. I feel free! I feel me! I feel like myself again. It's good to be back.

So. I made this be a shorter, yet important episode. Serena is realizing stuff, but isn't 100% sure yet. And Serena cut her hair. I don't know if this book will include performances or not. I don't think it will... but who knows? I wanted Serena to realize who she was in this world, and I wanted her to regain her old self, and in this episode, it is the first time in a while that she feels this way. With all that said, I will see you in chapter 21!
