We returned to the Starkiller base after a day that had seemed completely surreal. Kylo had something to do, understandable, I mean he is Kylo Ren. I was greeted by Katia outside my room.

"Hello Ms. (Y/n)." Katia said.

"Hey Katia!" I said stopping in front on the door. I thought about something for a moment.  I could invite her in, and we could talk. It might be nice to talk to someone who isn't Kylo for once, as much as I love- I mean like him. Who am I kidding?, love him. Would she even accept? "Katia?".

"Yes?" She asked.

"Would you like to come in? We could just talk?" I asked, hopefully.

"My orders are to guard your room. I'm sure the Commander wouldn't be happy if I wasn't doing my job."  Katia said still standing staring ahead with her blaster held to her chest.

"Technically you could guard my room from the inside, could you not? Also I wouldn't worry about the Commander, between you and I, I think he may have a small soft spot for me." I smiled.

"Well...I suppose I could." She said, still slightly hesitant.

"It's settled then, come on in." I said opening the door to my room and gesturing for her to come inside. "It's not much, but you know, it wasn't exactly my choice."

She entered the room silently. I sat down on my bed and looked over at her, she was still standing there stiff.

"Sit?" I said patting the end of my bed.

She hesitantly sat down on the end of my bed and set her blaster aside.

"You could take off your helmet, i'd like to see my friend." I realised I was being quite pushy. "I mean only if you're comfortable with it, if not I understand" I smiled at her.

"It's alright Miss (Y/n) I-"

"Just (Y/n) is fine." I said.

"Right. (Y/n)." She put her hands on her helmet and pulled it off.

She set her helmet down alongside her blaster. Katia had a lovely dark complexion, with short, curly, coarse, brown hair and brown eyes. She was quite pretty. She seemed a little older than me.

"It's nice to actually see you for once." I said.

"(Y/n), may I ask, why you're being so nice to me?" Katia said looking at me, brows furrowed.

"Believe it or not, just because I'm close to Kylo doesn't mean i'm heartless. Neither is he, to be quite honest. I don't have anyone else here other than Kylo, it's nice to have a friend." I replied.

"Oh...I didn't think of that." She said, sounding sorry for questioning me.

"It's alright. So tell me about yourself." I said.

"Well there's not that much to tell. I don't remember much from before being a stormtrooper. I don't even remember my old name. I was taken by the First order when I was quite young."

"I see. It must have been horrible." I said trying to sympathise.

"Like I said, I don't remember much so there's nothing to feel badly about. How about you?" Katia asked.

"Honestly i'd prefer not to talk abut my past...I could tell you about my day though." I said smiling, at the thought of the fields of Naboo.

"I'm guessing it was a nice day?" She said smiling back slightly.

I asked her to promise, not to tell anyone about everything I told her. She promised, I could tell she wasn't lying. I could just feel it, maybe it was something to with the force, I couldn't be sure. I continued to tell her all about my day. She grew more comfortable talking to me.

"Wait he actually let you braid his hair?!" She asked looking genuinely shocked.

"Yeah, I know it was kind of crazy right?" I asked.

"Definitely crazy. I could never imagine Commander Ren in the sunny fields of Naboo, letting someone braid his hair." She said, still shocked.

"Yeah, I didn't think he could be so sweet." I said blushing slightly.

"So are you and the Commander, actually together?" She asked quietly.

"Oh I don't know, I'd like to think so but to be honest, who knows?" I asked rhetorically.

"It seems like he likes you. I mean he definitely doesn't act that way with anyone else." Katia said.

It felt like we were young girls talking about our crushes. I guess it was something we had both missed out on, both for different reasons but we both missed it nonetheless. It was nice to talk to a woman around my age again. Sure I had talked to Una back on Droch but I sort of thought I was going to die so I was more focused on that.

It had been getting quite late and I remembered that Ras usually took night-shifts. I didn't get why I still had someone guarding my room the entire time, I was completely capable of taking care of myself at that stage. Katia and I finished our conversation and we stood up. I walked towards the door and opened it for her.

"Thank you, (Y/n). I didn't know how much I needed this. It was nice talking to you. Goodnight." Katia smiled at me.

"Me too Katia. I had fun, see you tomorrow. Goodnight." I returned the smile.

She lifted her helmet back on her head and walked away. I changed into some clothes for sleep. I didn't really know what to do. For the past while I had been sleeping in Kylo's bed, but every time it just happened. Once or twice, he asked me to stay but I had never asked to stay with him.

I just came to the conclusion that it would be easier to just sleep in my own bed. I didn't mind, it wasn't as comfortable as his bed. It wasn't as warm either but anything would beat that prison cell back on Droch. I turned off the lights and laid down, covering myself with the blankets.
