The door opened with a click, and the two young men must've locked eyes by now. I glanced out of the window to expect the time having stopped again, the leaves frozen and the birds stilling in the sky, but none of that. Hades laid his heavy head on my lap as I kept stroking him, like an old baroness her ragdoll.

"Finally facing me, huh?" Kye dark voice sounded, and heavy footsteps betrayed that he was letting Jason in.

"Not to bow to you and beg for forgiveness," Jason muttered, making me arch one eyebrow, as they advanced towards the living room with me in it. "Chase and I have had some trouble with rogues, and you're just completely out of the picture. I know you hate me, but Chase's getting a full load now, as well. You could get them out of the woods within a second. Why- Oh, good lord."

"Hey," I squeaked, as Kye's eyebrow twitched, and Jason's lifted high up his forehead.

"Ashley, Jesus, you scared me!" The blonde boy's smile filled up his face, probably trying to make me forget all about what I just heard with his hypnotizing and dazzling looks.

Not me!

Those rogues again. They were in the woods, huh? So, Kye was not the only one who had to fight them off. Chase and Jason as well. Very interesting indeed, this world of theirs. Odd, but intriguing.

"Get out, little one," Kye spoke, waving with his hand. I felt like an annoying toddler but stayed put.

"You know I'll just eavesdrop on the conversation anyway."

"Guys, I find it absolutely fascinating that you got Ashley here in your apartment," Jason chuckled, sitting down next to me. "It makes me wonder about things. Whether you have some special bond, or whatever." He winked at Kye, who's pupils were narrowed to the point of no return and red flashes kept flickering through his eyes.

I wanted to joke to him about what Kye got so mad over this morning; him considering me his 'mate' or whatever- but somehow, I felt that I couldn't do that to the guy himself. His gaze told me not to open my mouth, anyway. It sucked the soul out of my body and dared to take my life as well, if I did so much as utter a word.

"I'm simply not done yet," Kye spoke, coolly. His ice-cold demeanor shattered my heart. "And I don't need to explain myself to the likes of you, Jason." He spit out the words like venom. "You'd better get your act straight and work harder, or you're out."

"You won't kick me out, you need me."

Kye scoffed, sat down, and buried his hands in his hair. I felt that Kye was hurting. It hurt me, too. Maybe Jason worked for him, like Chase, but didn't do it right. Maybe Kye's given him too many second chances.

But probably not. I mean, it was Kye we were talking about. And I couldn't try to comprehend something I had no clue of.

"What have you been doing these past weeks, anyway?" Kye finally asked, lifting his head, his eyes weary.
