"Ashley!" Chase brought out, as I whirled around before I could never look Jesse in the eyes again.
Kye laughed, taking my upper arms and drawing slow circles. "I'm sorry, I completely forgot to tell you she'd be with me."
Chase groaned behind me, "Jessica'll hate me. She'll never forgive me for flashing her best friend. Didn't you at least bring boxers, alpha?"
"That's your own problem. I don't care if you shift, anyway."
"I do," I muttered. "Please don't."
"Well, what did you need me for?" Kye demanded, leaving my arms alone. As soon as he lifted his touch, coldness seeped into my limbs, and made me start to shiver a bit.
"We caught a pup. The rogues've been breeding, it seems. She doesn't want to shift back, though."
Pup? Kye called me a pup too, I remembered.
Well, whatever.
"Pups are just as big as Hades," Kye told me. "Okay?"
My stomach started stinging at the idea of having to confront a wolf. But if I was going to cure myself of my trauma, I'd have to start with this, I knew that. I'd never tried going to a zoo after that night and only seen normal wolves on the internet, but they weren't as scary as the big, mythical ones.
"Sure," I managed to say, turning back to find Chase trying to cover up his junk with big leaves. "Leave it, Chase, I won't look."
"Promise?"
A grin swept over my face. "Promise, idiot."
"Alright." He dropped the leaf and squinted his eyes against the moon. "Mariah, you can bring the pup."
I don't know what I'd expected, but it certainly wasn't another stark naked body with large feminine shapes, with a growling and squirming wolf in her hold to casually step out of the bushes.
"Good God," I hissed, pivoting and getting on my toes to hold my hands over Kye's eyes. "Do you shifters just walk around naked in the woods all day?"
Kye's laugh rumbled through me as Mariah let out an annoyed sigh.
"That human again. Honestly. Alpha, take this from me. I'm not good with pups," she demanded.
"I can't see," he told her, as I sternly kept him from witnessing her naked body. "Ashley, Mariah and I have seen each other naked since we were pups."
"It's per principal," I grumbled.
"Alright then. Give the pup to me, Mariah, and get lost," Chase demanded. She obeyed him without a word. I guess that was the ranking system getting back at her.
I took off my hands as soon as Mariah sprinted off and growled in annoyance, finally taking in the matter that had really been creeping me out; the normal-sized wolf that Chase gave to Kye, by the scruff of the neck.
