Book 1 - Chapter 7
When Skylar's lips connect with mine, I instantly start kissing her back. I don't hesitate in the slightest and she seems to notice this as she starts moving her lips faster against mine.
I honestly hadn't pegged her as someone who really takes control of things but she surprisingly does. She starts to push me back on the bed as she straddles my lap. I grab a hold of her hips firmly as she presses herself into me even further.
I want her to have complete control over what's happening but I so desperately want to taste her and she seems to be holding back. I squeeze her hips a little as I run my tongue along her bottom lip for the second time this night. She moans out and opens her mouth. I wait half a second, expecting her to pull away from me again but she doesn't, so I quickly take the opportunity and push my tongue into her mouth. I have barely had a chance to taste her when her tongue starts to fight mine for dominance, taking me a bit by surprise.
Normally I wouldn't, but because I had already decided to give her control, I quickly surrender to her. She quickly takes over and pushes her tongue into my mouth, causing a deep moan to leave my throat.
The kiss lasts for quite a while before she slowly starts pulling away from me. I slowly open my eyes to see her looking down at me as she tries to catch her breath. I can feel her heart pounding in her chest against mine.
I give her a couple seconds to calm down before moving my good hand off of her hip and taking the side of her face into my hand. I slowly start to bring her lips back down. Her lips just barely brush against mine when she suddenly pulls away from me again.
"No! No, we can't do this," she says as she shakes her head and moves off of me. I frown in disappointment as I watch her. "You have a girlfriend. We were literally just talking about her. This isn't right," she says as sits back on the bed while running her hands through her hair.
I lift myself up a little with my elbows as I look at her. "I don't have a girlfriend, not really," I say quietly as I look back at her. She looks at me in confusion and I frown. "She hasn't been my girlfriend in a long time. Do you honestly think I didn't know she was ghosting me? I'm not stupid. Hell, she's probably fucking someone else right now," I say and she frowns as she watches me pull myself up into a sitting position on the bed.
I haven't gotten more than two texts from Madison in the last three months. We kept in touch for a couple weeks after she left for college but then one day we just didn't anymore. I would text her and call her every now and then but she didn't answer so I stopped. After like a month of not hearing back I texted her again and asked her if everything was okay. She finally texted back a couple days later. She sent a total of two texts. In the first text she said that everything was fine and she was super busy and she just kept forgetting to text me back. She apologized and said she would call me as soon as she could. The second text came a few minutes later and said 'I love you.'
I haven't heard from her since. I have been waiting two months and she still hasn't seemed to find the time to call...
"If you knew then why did you lie?" she asks and I shrug a little.
"Because I preferred living in denial. I hate the idea of fully admitting it's over," I say and she looks at me curiously.
"Why?" she asks and I just silently look at her for a second.
"Because admitting it means that it really is over. She may be ready for that but I'm not," I say honestly and she frowns.
"Why are you trying to hold on to something that's already broken?" she asks and I shake my head.
