Book 2 - Chapter 8
Hayley's POV

I look at Madison across from me at the dinner table and can see that she looks rather annoyed after what I just told her.

"Tanya is seriously bringing her girlfriend? On our trip?" she asks and I shrug slightly.

"I wouldn't say Skylar is Tanya's girlfriend but they might be getting more serious so maybe she is. I don't know, it's only been about a month. And yes, she is bringing her. Tanya asked me if she could and I said sure. It's not like there isn't room at the beach house for her," I say and Madison sighs.

Every summer for the last few years Madison and I, along with Tanya and Carlos take a week long trip down the coast to the beach. This year Tanya asked me if she could invite Skylar to come along and I saw no real reason to say no.

It does seem a little early in their, whatever it is they are doing, to be going away together. But I'm trying to not insert myself in their business anymore. And besides, it's not like it's some super romantic getaway for just Madison and I that they are crashing. The whole point of us doing this is to just get away and spend time with friends. That's why Carlos and Tanya both always tag along and we definitely have room for one more. The beach house we rented has three rooms and it's pretty obvious that Skylar would be sharing a room with Tanya. She really wanted Skylar to come and if that's what she really wanted then I saw no reason to say she couldn't.

Honestly, I really don't understand what's happening between Tanya and Skylar. They seem to have gotten closer over the last month, they have both been spending a lot more time together. They almost seem like a real couple, but I get the sense that's still not the case.

Skylar said she thought she might have feelings for Tanya, but I don't think she has figured it out or said anything about it to her. If she had said something to Tanya she probably would have told me by now.

I'm really confused but I also haven't had too much time to think about it. I really am trying not to insert myself in their relationship anymore, Tanya seems happy and that's enough to make me mind my own business.

Lately I've been a lot more focused on Madison. About two months ago now, after Madison took the in-home pregnancy tests, we went to the doctor to get her blood work done and a couple days later we got the results back saying she was indeed pregnant. The first few weeks I tried not to get overly invested in thinking about it but now that we are at the two month mark and her risk for a miscarriage has dropped slightly, I have started thinking about it more and more.

We still aren't at the point where we are telling people yet. Normally you wait until you're out of the first trimester, which is about the thirteen week mark, before you start telling people about the pregnancy. But given our luck in the past, we might wait just a little longer. Because she has already miscarried once before, the chances are slightly higher which is why it is best to wait. It's also why I have been trying my best to make sure she is taken care of and why I don't have much time to think about anything else.

"Don't you think it's weird for Tanya to invite this girl we barely know?" she asks and I shrug.

"Tanya has known her for quiet a while now and they are involved. I have spoken to her a few times and have gotten to know her some and she seems fine to me. I highly doubt letting her come will ruin our vacation," I say and Madison frowns. "Is it really that big of a deal?" I ask and she rolls her eyes.

"I just don't want things to end up being awkward or uncomfortable because Tanya invited the girl, she may or may not be dating, to join us," she says and I nod my head.

"I'm sorry. I probably should have ran it by you before I said Tanya could invite her. But it's too late to do anything about it now. I really think it will be fine but if you are really that concerned we can stay home. I don't want you to be stressing about this when you should be relaxing," I say but she rolls her eyes and waves me off.
