Chapter 16: Waking Up to Reality or Fantasy?
Darcy's P.O.V.
Everything was super freaking fast.
One minute I was having the most nerve racking moment with a guy, who happens to be my best friend, mind you. Next minute I'm slumped in a taxi, sleeping on Harry's shoulder riding back home, which I find really awkward but my body really gave up on me and instantly went to zombie mode. Then suddenly I'm in Gavin's room, watching the last flick of the Harry Potter series, eating popcorn until I fell asleep. Now I'm in Chem, last period of the day, waiting for the bell to ring.
It was a Wednesday, almost a week since the lads arrived in London and things were different since then.
Usually, people only look for me to explain a Math expression, to help them understand the different theories of the solar system, to help them make a script for theater or to help them do some tricks in soccer. Now they just want to hang out with me! This cannot be true.
Before when I pass the hallways, no one would ever notice me. Only professors and some friends, which I can count. But now, I can never pass a single hallway without a crowd forming around me!! Like what the people? Can't a girl have some personal space?
My friends always tell me that I'm just not used to being popular, but the only thing I like about this is that Faye's not messing with my life anymore.
She's not messing with other girls' lives anymore, she won't be bullying, hurting, backstabbing anyone hopefully for a long, long time.
I looked around the room searching for weird and funny things to pass the last 5 minutes. Bella was playing with her bangs, brushing it right then left then back right, you get the picture.
Emma was, well Emma fell asleep on her textbook! Good thing she's seated behind big Ben, haha. Get it? Big Ben? I swear I'm cracking up in my seat with my oh so corny puns.
I turned to my right, to my seatmate, to the new and improved, Briel Damon. He changed really since the tournament and now he doesn't snob me anymore. Now, a lot of girls are talking about me because the cutest boy in school is always hanging out with me. He was playing with his hands, fidgeting his watch and I ruffled his dark brown tousled hair.
We shared a smile, we often do that now, I have no idea why.
Finally! The annoying sound of the 15 second long school bell rang, interrupting Mr. Valdez while explaining a chemical reaction and waking up a handful of students from the random stuff they were doing. Well, except for Emma, who was still drooling over her textbook.
"So you have plans after school Darce?" Briel said while spinning his pencil.
"No, but.." I started to say but he cut me off.
"But what now? You've been turning me down since Monday, I mean I just want to hang out with you that's all. You're different," he huffed as the pencil he was spinning dropped on the floor, obviously annoyed.
I stared at him for a long time, who cares if people were staring at us, I just don't get boys. They are what you call impossible, nada nada. "You know my limits, I have to be controlled. Besides, my turn to babysit Alex for the night. My mum's off to the company we own, said she has some things to follow up and that she won't be home early."
"What about your older brother? Gavin could handle a nine-year-old right?" he pleaded, waving both of his hands helplessly in the air.
I managed to laugh, "He's staying at his friend's house for the night. He said they have this important project to work on. So since I had a lot of freedom last weekend, my turn to handle the little angel." I smirked.
