My Silent Words

Chapter 1 - Welcome to New York

“Alex, Baby” I hear my mom whisper in my ear.

“We're here” I peeked my eyes open in the sound of her words.

I checked the clock

9:35am

No wonder why the road is so busy for an early morning.

I saw our new house and...

Wow, I just stood there in shock. I mean it wasn't just a house but it was a mansion.

A whole fucking mansion.

A two-story mansion  with a fountain in the front yard. It was very amazing.

I came to check and see what it would look like in the inside.

As I walked inside, I felt more joy and amazement once I see the living room.

There was an actual chandelier hanging from the ceiling. I was totally amazed.

You might wonder how mom bought this house, or should I say 'mansion'.

Well, my mom is actually an engineer as her occupation but not just any engineer, she has the highest rank among them and at the same time, a boss of the very famous and successful company. That's why she can earn a monthly salary of more or less $100,000. But I've got no plans in spoiling myself with the luxury we have. And I also wanted to live simply like a normal person would do. Not too rich and not too poor.

I walked shocked towards the kitchen. I saw complete equipments and utensils.

After that, I took a quick peek at the backyard. And I saw a huge pool.

A real pool. Not those kiddy pools that's made from rubber. I mean, really, it's a real pool made with tiles. And I think it is 8 ft. Deep.

I went back inside and ran upstairs to check the second floor when mom started talking.

“Your room's on the second door on the right” she said with a chuckle and I just nodded.

I started looking left and right checking which one's my room.

Second door, second door. Ah here it is. I thought.

I turned the door knob and to my surprise, my room was a blast! It's walls were decorated with musical designs. Guitar, keyboards and notes were on the walls.

It also has a guitar and keyboard stand so that I can place my guitar and keyboard.

Say, speaking of guitar and keyboard, I forgot I left it in the living room while I was exploring the house.

I went outside my room and into the living room where I left the guitar and keyboard picked it up  and placed it gently on its respective stand.

After that hard work, I got tired and buried my head on the pillow on the bed.

Oh wait, it's not just any bed, it's a water bed.

I feel my body react to the wiggly force of the bed that made me chuckle.

After a short break, I feel my door creek open and I can see the head of my mom popped in with the small opening of the door with a smile on her face.

“You happy?” she asks

I just simply nod with a smile on my face and got out of bed and hugged her wrapping my arms around her waist, and she returned the hug.

“Glad you are” she continued

“I love you” I whispered low enough for her to hear.

“I love you too” she replied.

“I'll be down in the kitchen making dinner and I'll call you when it's done” She suggests

I just simply nod as a response.

I lay down on my bed and put my ear pods on.

Sad Song by We the kings starts playing and I just let my body and mind get drowned in the lyrics of the song.

Without you, I feel broke

Like I'm half of a whole

Hand to hold

The same song plays over and over again because I wanna feel the presence of my diseased father and brother. Yet I know that that they're up there, watching the both of us here in earth.

After the song repeats for the hundredth time, my mom knocks on my door.

“Dinner's ready” she stated

I don't wanna make her wait for much longer.

I jumped out of my bed let my feet feel contact with the wooden surface of the floor and walk toward the wooden rectangular wall.

I turned the knob and greeted her with a smile.

We both went down the stairs together and headed towards the dining table.

We sit on the chairs and ate our dinner quietly.

At an instance, my mom broke the silence.

“So Alex, have you ever wondered where do you wanna study?” she asked

I stopped eating and looked at my plate.

Damn you, Alex. How can you forget about school.

I shooked my head No.

“Well that's a shame.” she started

“But don't worry. I know a school perfect for you” she continued.

Oh how I hope it isn't one of those private schools with fancy students and all shitty teachers and their stupid rules. I thought

I just wanna study in a normal public school where you're free on socializing with other students and kids.

“Hardvard Academy.” she stated.

Yes!!! Thank God it's not a private school.

“I know how much you hate private schools. And so do I” she mumbled out while continuing to plunge her food into her mouth.

I slowly continued to eat my food and after I finished eating my dinner, I bid goodbye to my mother and head towards my bedroom when she suddenly spoke.

“Son, before we get you in Hardvard Academy, I want to give you a surprise. But you have to wait until tomorrow.”

I just nod slowly in understanding.

I wonder what would it be?

Ooh, maybe a new phone?

Neh, I just had my new phone 2 months ago

New headphones would be nice.

I have my own headphone

An Xbox?

Like I know how to play a video game

Or maybe something simpler like an oversized shirt or a jacket.

Yeah I think that would be nice

I'll just have to wait till tomorrow.

Aside of the surprise, thinking about school made me anxious. I mean I do need to socialize with other people right? But that would only mean I have to open my mouth and speak.

Socializing with other people is really not my thing. But I hope all will go well.

With those last thoughts, I went to my bedroom and buried my face on the pillow of my bed and slept quickly.
