Alexander's POV

“You sure you're ready?” I asked for what like the ninety-sixth time. Today was the day that the competition takes place. Currently, we are outside the school gates and hesitatingly going in. The spectrum lights from inside seems to find it's way outside hitting our eyes. And the harmonic sound of guitars and various instruments flew passed our ears sending shivers to run down our spines.

“I told you a hundred and six times. I am, Alex. Don't worry.” Isaiah replied confidentially.

“Don't mess it up this time. Last time we practiced, you made a lot of mistakes and by a lot, I mean really plenty.” I retorted placing my hands on my hips. He rubs his neck and chuckled a bit.

“It's your fault you chose a hard song for me to practice. Therefore I can't keep up yet.” He retorted back.

“Goodness, River flows in you isn't that hard. I played it in the first place remember?” I replied back.

“Yes, but that was different. This was more difficult. You added a little bit more speed and keys.”

“I have to because I'm sure that everybody has heard that song before. It was just a little twist.” I replied.

“Yeah, little twist” he starts with a sarcastic tone. “Yeah, I'll have you know that I almost broke my pinky because of this little twist.” he says to me. I can feel guilt running upwards my body.

“Yeah sorry about that.” I said rubbing the back part of my neck. He pats my shoulders with a smile.

“Hey, it's okay. You did a great job being my teacher for at least 3 days or what.” He said and I just smiled in response. “Now I'll promise this. If I'll do my best and not make a single mistake, I'm sure I'll win that trophy for us.” He said.

“You better. You promised Mr. Johnsons that you'll be blowing his mind away.”

“Yeah right. Now let's get inside.” He suggested and I nodded and followed him inside the school ground.

Flashback on their final rehearsal

“No, that's not it.” I replied back, rubbing my temples. “You should press the A then B then G# not A#”

“Damn, Alex. This is so hard. Of all the songs, why this one?” He complained.

“Are you kidding me? This is the most easiest song I have. Unless you want a kiddy song that would be the least chance of us winning that contest.”

“For you. I'm just a beginner here and Nope, I won't be playing Little star again.” he replied.

“Good.” I replied back. “Now play.” I demanded, seeing him just roll his eyes.

“Demanding little brat.” he whispered under his breath hoping that I won't hear it but sadly, I heard it loud and clear even if it was just a whisper.

“What was that?” I sounded as if I didn't hear a single word he said.

“Nothing, nothing” he quickly replied shaking his head

“Good. Continue.” I said.

He played the piano for about 30 mins more or so with some mistakes of course. Then after another 20 minutes of practice, he finally got the hang of it. He played it perfectly with no more mistakes and all.

“Ah, finally.” He sighed feeling exhausted.

“Good job. You got it all right.” I managed to let it out giving him a compliment for a job well done.

“Hell, yeah. I deserve that.” He said smiling as he shakes his fingers.

“Wait, don't!” I was about to warn him but it was too late.

“Oh shit!” He cursed.

“You shouldn't shake your hands every after a harsh practice of the keyboard.” I replied.

“And why is that?” he said rubbing his wrist.

“As what I've seen in your situation right now, you used the weak muscles of your fingers as principal source of energy in playing. And those muscles tire quickly that's why when you went on an intense piano practice about an hour ago, you used force on your fingers too much that the tension in the forearms actually originates in the finger muscles that are found in that zone.” I replied.

“Which means??” He asked blankly. I tilted my head with mouth hung open giving him an are-you-kidding-me? Look.

“You'll be rushed to the hospital if you shake your hands after an intense piano practice.” I replied.

“Oh, okay I understand now.” he finally blurt out.

“Are you sure you're ready?” I asked worriedly.

“Why? Are you worried?”

“Of course!” I exclaimed.

“Sheesh, Mr. Exclamatory piano nerd, no need to shout.” he said backing up a bit because of my loud shrieking sound.

“Sorry” I apologized quickly. “I am worried. What if you'll make a mistake out there? What if they'll blame me for not teaching you enough? What if we'll lose the contest? What if–” before I could finish, Isaiah's index finger was placed on my mouth shutting me up.

“Alex, Alex. Listen.” He said in a husky tone.

Oh shit, I'm loving that kind of voice. It's so seductive... Just the way I like it. What in the actual fuck was I thinking?!

“I won't make a mess out there. I will try my best in not making a mistake. I will try my best in winning that contest. Now I'm going to tell you this, I. AM. READY.” he finishes removing his finger away from my mouth. I nod at his answer.

“Now what do you say we have one last practice before I depart. In that way we can be sure that I'll be ready to face this contest.” He suggests and I just nod my head. He places his fingers on the keyboard and starts playing the given song again.

Honestly, I'm really doubting Isaiah's skills. I mean, I know he's improving with the piano and has been practicing this for hours and days now but I'm still doubting him because he's still a beginner. And knowing that he'll be competing against a numerous amount of skilled students out there fighting for one trophy, I'm guessing he has only a very little chance of winning this competition. Oh gosh, if only a miracle would go pour down on the brains of the judges and make us winners for this year's contest even if Isaiah makes a mistake.

After he stopped playing, I just realized that he really didn't make a single mistake on the song.

For now

“Finally, done.” He exclaims as he looks at his watch. “Oh, it's getting late. I better go now, okay? Thanks for teaching me, Alex. This really means so much to me. And you're a pretty good teacher.” He says and I slightly blush at his compliment.

“Yeah... You're welcome.” I said shyly before waving him goodbye and getting out of the room.
