Alexander's POV

“Ladies and gentlemen, tonight, I now announce that this level of competition is officially open. Let the competition Begin!” The emcee announced through the microphone earning rounds of applause from the audience and participants inside the venue.

“Let us start from the guitar category. Starting of with the freshman year.” he simply completes his statement with a round of applause from everybody around the venue. Then a short girl with brunette hair and had glasses on takes a step closer towards the stage with her Fernando with her. She was wearing ¾ black anf red checkered unisex button up shirt paired with tight jeans and converse on.

As she reaches the stage, she takes a seat on the center of the stage where she'll be performing. She places her guitar comfortably on her lap and places her left hand on the frets and her other hand on the strings just above the sound hole and she starts her song.

She strums a few strings along with the changing of her fingers and then followed by the plucking process. The song she played made everyone including me feel still and calm. The plucking of the strings made us feel the moment we were in. As she continues to pluck the strings, I finally snapped out and realize the title of the song.

Blue stone alley by Confei Wei

I remember this song. I mean how can I forget about it. It was the song my brother always play to me whenever I felt sad or lonely at times. This song was his life song as it was his favorite song ever since the first time he heard it. He left so much memories for me. Why did he leave me so early?

Why? I thought to myself as I sniffed.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and when I turned around, I saw Isaiah with a worried expression.

“Hey, you okay?” he sounded... Concerned.

Why are you concerned?

I nod towards him and he nods back reassuring.

“I thought so. You were listening to the song and then you started to shake and I knew something could've happen so I came to ask if something's bothering you.” he explained. I stared to him in shock.

I was starting to cry? I thought to myself as I kept staring at his oceanic blue orbs.

“I-I'm fine” I said above whisper just enough for Isaiah to hear me. Which he smiles then nods and turns his attention back to the show.

I didn't really expect that would happen. I mean, did I really almost cry? In front of a show? Was I really that weak to feel that way? It was just a simple memory of someone dear to me. Yet, that memory was something I can't get back. It wasn't just a memory, it was a moment that's impossible to happen again. Maybe that's the reason I felt that way.

A round of applause was heard from around the gymnasium making me jolt back in surprise and brought me back to reality. Eyeing the contestant, she did a simple bow as her performance came to an end.

Wow, I didn't realize that the whole performance had just passed by with me daydreaming. Great. Just great Alexander.

The next contestant immediately went upstairs after the girl left the stairs. I'm guessing that this next contestant is a senior based on his outfit and his attitude. He was tall and was wearing a pastel blue long sleeved polo and some tattered jeans and black addidas shoes to match his outfit. He was carrying an electric guitar with him as he goes upstairs.

Oh shit, I think this is gonna be epic. And loud

As he sits on the center stage, he immediately starts plucking the strings... A lot of strings. Then a loud banging of the bass and drums started following his beat making him also move faster to accompany the melody. I directly recognize the played piece.

Canon (Rock) by Pachebell

It's a classic song which I always use to practice my piano skills. Originally, Canon was from the game I used to play several years ago. After many plays, the tone of the song kept singing in repeat inside my head and it wasn't stopping. Until such time, I found time for it to practice and mastered it. It didn't took me long to master it, I guess it was just 3 hours or so. But after that, I heard this eye-catching version of the song and tried to listen to it. Eventually, it was similar to Canon, just a rock version. After listening to canon rock, I tried to master it and boy, it was hard. It took me a good 1 week to master it.

While watching the boy play, I can't help to be amazed of how he played the song. He was just playing like he was in his house. He was rocking the guitar, alright. After some part, he was getting closer to the very tricky part. And it left everyone of us gasp in shock as he just plucks his way to the chorus part without any mistake. It was perfect.

Wow, amazing.

As he finishes, he was greeted with standing ovations from the judges including the audiences and his fellow contestants.

He deserve this title, alright.

As he disappears from the stage, a familiar figure came up the stage. Following a few 'I love you's' from the girls behind me.

I know you, Fernandez. I thought with a smirk. And what do you know, I was right. He climbed up to the stage and grabbed a microphone.

“Um, hello. Mic test.” he starts. “Uhh, hello there. I'm here in front of you to perform. Obviously.” he said the last part in a sarcastic way which earned a few laughs from the people. “But this evening isn't just a contest for me and the song I'm going to play isn't just an ordinary song we play on our phones and iPods just for fun and letting it pass until the next song takes over it's place. This song I'm going to play is dedicated to someone out there.” he states and I was left wondering who the hell could it be.

“So to you whose listening this, this is from my heart.” he ends and puts the mic back. He sits on the chair and starts to play a very familiar yet memorable song for me.

Sad song by We the Kings

He slowly plucks the strings to get the melody in the correct order. It was amazing. I can see the feelings that he put in while playing the song. It was sincere and pure. He was right when he said it was from his heart. I continued to watch him perform and listen to the song very carefully while recalling all the moments my dad and my older brother left me. It was just pure happiness. I felt a tear flow out of my left eye but I didn't bother to wipe it or even touch it.
I don't want to intervene a single thing that reminds me of my family. I don't want to ruin it's pathway.

As soon as Isaiah finished the song, he was greeted with not just a round of applause but also whistles and a few shouts from the ladies in the back.

He takes a bow and heads back to where we sat.

I wiped my tears away after I see him walking towards my direction. I don't want to look like a mess in front of him.

“You did great!” I mouthed at him.

“Thanks. I know you'll do too.” he replied.

“And that was the guitar category folks” the emcee stated.

“Now, it's time for the piano category!”
