Isaiah's POV
I'm really great ful that Mrs.- Dianne had a son like Alex. He's so sweet and caring. Even though they're just the two of them in their mansion. I'm really great ful for getting to meet Alex.
It was around half passed six and we're now currently walking towards the park to talk about random things. Well, I'll have to do the talking of course cause, Alex is... Y'know, mute.
As we reach the park, Alex went directly to the swing and started to lean himself forward and backward in a slow matter. His beautiful hair surpassingly went in the rhythm of the wind that was making a beautiful view of his face.
Gosh this boy is beautiful
Shaking my thoughts away, I decided to earn the courage to actually ask him the question I have been wanting to ask him a long time ago.
“Alex?” I said. He turned his gaze towards me, still swinging slowly.
“Are you born mute?” I asked. This time, he stopped swinging and faced himself on his shoes.
He shook his head no.
No
That was his answer. He wasn't born mute.
“So, you can speak?” I asked once more. He nodded his head.
“Why don't you wanna speak in school?” a moment of silence filled the air.
“You... Can... Ignore my question... I-I didn't mean to... Uhh-” I get halted with his palm in front of my face.He raised his head up and breathed deeply.
“I-I d-don't want t-to speak because I thought it was just a waste of energy.” he replied. Voice filled with rasp but beautiful.
“Is it okay if I ask what happened?” I asked. Only this time, I can feel the tension he's having.
He's uncomfortable.
He stood up from the swing and stood still for a moment.
“Let's just drop the subject okay?” He said in an apoplectic tone.
I followed suit.
“Oh, okay. Sorry if I ever made you uncomfortable with the questions.” I apologized.
He looked behind his shoulders just enough to see a glimpse of my face
“It's okay. As long as nobody else knows that I can talk unless I say so.” he responded.
“Oh, okay. So, where do you want to go now?” I asked him.
“Home. Take me home. P-please” He said. And I assured.
I walked him home in awkward silence. Very awkward silence. Neither of us tried to start a random conversation.
As we reach his house, I stopped at the side of the road and said a small bye.
“Hey, umm. Thanks for this evening. I really had fun.” I reached out to he back of my neck. “And I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable earlier.” I ended.
He hummed. And paused for a minute.
“Ummm. Good night then.” I bid him and just as I was about to turn around and walk away, he spoke up more barely than a whisper.
“It's okay. You don't have to apologize for it. Good night. And ummm. Good luck for the game tomorrow.” he bid. And he went lost in sight.
I went home with a smile on my face and once I got inside my room, I laid there for a while and buried my head on the pillow.
Minutes after, I heard a knock on my door.
“Come in.” I said. And Calvin's head peeked out of the door step and went inside.
“Oh, it's you. What's up?” I said. And he sat on the other side of the bed.
I sat up to look at him.
“Just came to ask how'd your little dinner went.” he said.
With a little explanation, and expressions from my brain, I managed to tell Calvin how my dinner with Alex went.
“Bro, that sounds amazing!” he exclaimed.
“Yeah it is.” I replied.
“So, what'd you do after the early dinner?” Calvin asked
“Well, we just had a walk in the park. And went on a swing and talked.”
“About...” he's really craving to know.
“I can't tell you... Yet. Not yet.”
“Oh, c'mon!” he raises his hands in the air in defeat. “Why's that brother?”
“Because I don't have the authority to tell you yet.”
“Okay, so let me just get this straight.” he pauses for a minute before continuing. “So, you just had a date with this Alex guy and you're just not gonna share it to me? C'mon dude, I'm your brother!” I rolled my eyes at him
“Whatever” I replied. “And for your information "brother"” - I emphasized the "brother" part with my second and third finger - “It wasn't a date. In fact, it was a dinner because I, Isaiah Fernandez is a hero.” I said proudly.
“Hero my ass. You couldn't even save a pen from falling off a desk.” he said laughing.
“Go to your room.” I snorted laying on my bed wrapping myself with my blanket
“Seriously dude, what did you talk about at the park and how the hell did you become a "hero"?” he emphasized the "hero" part.
“Calvin, brother. I really love to share it to you but I'm sorry. I already told you. I can't tell you unless Alex says so.” I said earning a satisfied nod.
“And the hero part...” I sat straight and try to explain it even clearer to him.
“I saved him from a bully at school.” I started. He hummed. “And after the beat up and stuff, he left a bruise on Alex's body like... Everywhere! And so, I asked the nurse if I could get him home so, I did. Boy, his room was cool! He had a guitar and a piano there.” I exclaimed. “Anyway, after I performed cold compress on his body, I left his room but was greeted with his mother who thought that I was a thief but I explained to her who I was and what I did to Alex and there... She said I'm a hero.” I ended earning several nods from Calvin.
“So, can you please leave me alone? I need to get some sleep now. Big game tomorrow.” He let out his hand in the air in defeat and stood up.
“Okay, man. Good luck tomorrow. Good night.” He said leaving my room.
“Yeah, you too.” I replied.
