The next morning, I can't help staring at the screen of my phone, desperately waiting for Jungkook to text me. Since the award season is over, I'm off today, and Jungkook has no reason to text me. However, I still want him to because I'm afraid I might have gotten too far yesterday night.
"What's with the gloomy face?" Eun asks me, munching on her cereal.
Sitting at her kitchen counter reminds me how much I miss living with her. Back then, I didn't know Jungkook that well, and it was much easier to hate him and just see him as my arrogant boss.
Sighing, I massage my temples. "What if I went too far yesterday night, Eun?"
"What do you mean? You should be proud of yourself for finally standing up to him." She's referring to our phone call, which I've told her about earlier today.
Shaking my head, I answer: "No, you don't understand. The way I talked to him... he's still my boss, Eun. No matter how mad I am at him, I crossed a line."
"So did he. Honestly, Rose, when you make a decision, you have to stick to it, you know? Stop having regrets the next day. And I don't just mean this particular situation. I'm addressing your general behavior in life."
"Are you trying to be deep?", I frown her, a playful grin on my face.
She wrinkles her nose at me jokingly. "I'm trying to help you, you ungrateful brat."
The moment she says that the door rings, and we both exchange confused glances as she goes to answer it. Who could it be at this hour? It's still so early.
Eun stands up to go answer the door while I turn around and start to wash the dishes, not seeing the door.
It's only when Eun angrily hisses "You!" that I realize I should probably check what's going on.
Standing in Eun's apartment is no other than Jeon Jungkook.
My mouth is wide open as I stare at him. "Jungkook oppa?" It's an odd sight to have him here, in Eun's home. My safe haven away from him.
My boss is wearing black jeans and a dark green sweater. Simple but handsome, as usual, and I can't help but suddenly think of the lucky girl that will be his girlfriend one day. He dresses exactly the way I always imagined my boyfriend to dress in my dreams.
To this day, I've never been in a serious relationship, and I've started to believe that these dreams of me having a cute, stylish boyfriend will stay just that: dreams.
While Jungkook sounded clearly upset last night, I somehow didn't imagine for him to care enough to be here. Whatever happens between us, I'm always under the impression that I'm the only one affected.
Eun crosses her arms and glares at the man standing in front of her. "What are you doing in my home?" While she's almost 10 cm smaller than Jungkook, she still somehow manages to look intimidating. Eun's power.
Jungkook shoots her an annoyed look. "Don't flatter yourself. I came for Rose."
Then, he opens his mouth and glances over to, clearly wanting to approach me, but Eun stops him by stepping in his way. "Don't talk to her."
"And why wouldn't I do that?" My boss retorts, his patience wearing thin. Besides, he's usually the one doing the ordering around.
"Because every time you do, you hurt her, you jerk!", she screeches at him, making Jungkook direct his full attention towards her, now.
"What did you just call me?"
I gulp. Why do I feel like I'm watching my parents fight?
"You heard me.", My best friend responds calmly. "Hurtful, right? But still not as hurtful as when you called Rose no one."
