The conversation doesn't quit my mind the next couple of days because deep down I know damn well that she's right. There is no way that whatever Jungkook and I have going on right now will work out well. However, I want it to, I so desperately want it to because what else am I supposed to do? Turn off my feelings? I've been trying that for months now and I've failed every single time.

So I push all my anxious thoughts out of my mind and instead focus on the present, quite particularly on something I've wanted to do for a long time already which is to decorate Jungkook's apartment. It still looks as basic and soulless as the day I first stepped into it, and that really needs to change. I know Jungkook is actually into interior design; he's just too busy to genuinely invest and care about it, when he does have some rare free time, he'd rather do something else.

Well, thankfully enough, he's got me.

One afternoon, I lie myself out of work earlier by telling Jungkook I have a headache and would rather work from home. Since there's no counterargument against that request, Jungkook lets me go, just making some worried eyes at when I leave. However, the real reason I'm leaving is to start installing everything I've been secretly ordering off of different interior design websites in the last few days. It's been quite a hassle to coordinate everything since all the objects had to arrive at Jungkook's place today.

In only have a few hours to put everything together before Jungkook arrives home, so I've got to work quickly and neatly. Since the penthouse view of the Seoul skyline is still the real highlight of his home, I decided to organize his apartment more in a neutral, Scandinavian style. Jungkook pays a lot of mind to order and perfection, and I know he wouldn't appreciate it if his apartment felt too cluttered or overwhelmingly filled with different colors and patterns.

It's a stressful afternoon, but then Jungkook enters the apartment in the evening, I'm already finished and innocently sitting on the sofa as if nothing special had happened.

"Rose-ah?", Jungkook calls from the hallway as he spots me in the living room and approaches me. "Are you feeling better?"

"Mmh, yes, yes," I retort, for once wishing he'd pay less attention to me and more attention to his surroundings. "Notice anything?"

"Umm..." His eyes run me up and down. "Honestly, no, babe. You look cute, though."

I roll my eyes at him while standing up and coming to stand next to him. "Thank you, but for once I wasn't talking about me. I mean the apartment."

"Ohhh." Jungkook's doe eyes widen as he now sees all the plants, paintings, and other small decorating items I added. "What the heck, Rosie? What is all this? Why does my apartment look like something straight out of luxury Ikea?"

"Luxury Ikea," I comment with a grin, "that's exactly the vibe I was going for."

My boyfriend shakes his head with a sweet smile as he strolls through the living room, taking everything in. "When did you do all this, Rose-ah? This afternoon? Is that why you told me you were sick?"

"Yes. And sorry for lying, by the way. I just wanted to surprise you and make this place feel like home."

He stops and turns around to me, his intense gaze on my face as his thumb slowly runs down my cheek. "What have I done to deserve you, hmm?"

I could ask you the same. But instead, I push out: "Did I succeed? With the surprise?"

Jungkook cups my face and firmly presses his lips onto mine. "Oh, yes baby. Yes, you did."

...

For a while, everything goes well. Jungkook and I keep living in our happy little bubble, purposely ignoring any kind of negative conversation concerning our relationship. Both of us want to avoid facing the truth for as long as possible, and it has therefore just become a silent agreement between us to enjoy our time together as much as possible.
