Whistling, I make my way down to the kitchen. Today is going to be a good day. It's my first Sunday without Jungkook in this big apartment.
Two weeks have passed since I've moved in with Jungkook. Surprisingly, it didn't change our relationship as much as I thought it would; we haven't spent more time with each other than before since Jungkook usually sleeps at the dorms during the week, and I'm always at Eun's or my parent's when I'm off.
Except Eun has gone on a romantic getaway with Haechan – whom I still haven't met, by the way- and my parents are on vacation.
Meaning I'm giving myself some well-deserved alone time this weekend. Jin mentioned something about going fishing in Busan this weekend, I just assumed Jungkook would go with him since a) Busan is his hometown, and b) he just follows Jin everywhere like a puppy anyway.
In the past weeks, I've been able to observe an interesting relationship between the two: while Jungkook has stayed in his rebellious teenage phase where he wants to prove his independence from Jin, he keeps going back to him whenever he needs advice or a good laugh. They have a very sweet love-hate relationship.
Things between Jungkook and I have been a little bit icy, to say the least. Or generally, Jungkook has been even more closed off than usual lately, not just with me, but also with his members.
Well, since we're not close and he does not trust me anymore, he's not going to open up to me from all people anyways, so there's no point in even being concerned.
Anyway, today is my day. A beautiful, well-deserved self-care day.
Still whistling, I open the fridge to look for the fruit I want to put on my pancakes. During the week, I'm almost always running late, so I never take the time to make an elaborate breakfast like this one.
When I close the fridge door, Jungkook is suddenly standing before me, and a scream immediately escapes my lips. How the hell didn't I hear him when he usually stomps everywhere like an elephant?
Also, did I manage he looks extremely attractive in the morning with that bed head and his simple, black sleeping shirt?
That scream earns me an annoyed glare from my boss, who reaches beside to grab some banana milk from the fridge. "Jeez, Rose. Calm down."
No, I'm not going to calm down. First of all, this was supposed to be my weekend, my relaxed day. I was convinced he'd left with Jin, especially since he wasn't home yesterday night.
Second of all, can't he at least apologize after giving me a heart attack?
I just stare at him. "What are you doing here?"
He doesn't even look at me when he replies, completely unfazed. "I live here, Rose."
Wow. Funny. I have to resist the urge to roll my eyes at him since he wouldn't appreciate that very much.
When I don't answer, he crouches down to be on my eye level, which is something he always does when I'm confused or daydreaming. He's so close to me I can feel his breath on my skin. How come he smells even better in the morning? "Did you fall on the head or something while waking up today? Why are you so shocked to see me?"
I try to shake my thoughts off my head. "No, it's just.. you weren't here yesterday evening. When did you even come home?"
"Late.", he just mumbles.
Wow. If he's still this monosyllabic now, I wonder what he must have behaved like during puberty.
Poor Jin.
"How about today? You're not going fishing?" I keep digging. Maybe there's still some hope.
The young man just shakes his head. "Nope. Change of plans. Are you done with the interrogation?" Then, he exits the kitchen without waiting for an answer.
