The next day, I receive a text from a person I hadn't thought of in so long. It's my best friend in Busan, Jisoo, asking me if I'd like to meet up later today. He went to dancing class just like me and quickly became protective of me along with Jimin. Jisoo is the main reason why I can imitate the Busan accent so well since his is incredibly strong. Ever since I've started working for Jungkook, I've been to Busan a couple of times but I've never had enough time to actually meet up with him again. Besides, even if I did have time, I would have been too intimidated by Jungkook to actually ask for some time off.
It's weird to think about how we used to be strangers to each other, only discussing work-related things, to him becoming one of the closest people in my life. I'm not quite sure if I'm to Jungkook what he is to me since he's never mentioned it, and I doubt he ever will. However, it is reassuring to know that he at least likes to spend some time with me, even in private.
Chewing at my lip, I glance at some of the managers talking and going over the schedule of the next week. I would love to reunite with Jisoo, but technically, since I'm still not allowed to go outside on my own, I can't. Maybe I can convince them to let me out this once? Busan is safe, and I won't be alone. Jisoo's got strong dancer muscles, no one will dare to attack me while he accompanies me.
Nervously, I walk over to them. "Umm, excuse me, Jinyoung-ssi?"
He looks up from all his paperwork, a little bit irritated that I'm interrupting him. "Yes, Rose?"
"Have you... have you found out anything new about the saesang lately?"
His eyes glide over my face. "Not yet. All we know is that they're a network spread throughout all Korea."
I blink at this information. "Does this mean I wouldn't even have needed to stay hidden in Europe?"
"Well no," Jinyoung scratches his head, "but had absolutely no information back then and it's better to take too many precautions than not enough. Better safe than sorry."
He's not wrong, and I try to swallow the frustration at the thought of having lost so much time cooped up in hotel rooms when I could have been out exploring the most fascinating continent in the world.
"Oh, okay. I understand. Thank you for all your effort, I sincerely appreciate it." Stay polite, Rose, stay polite. "It's just... a friend asked me to meet him tonight. Since I won't be alone, it should be safe, right? Do you think that you could maybe make an exception for tonight and let me go out? Either way, you don't need me workwise during the concert."
Jinyoung glances over the edge of his glasses at me. "Have you talked to Jungkook about this?"
"No, not yet." Because we both know exactly he'd say no, Jinyoung.
The older man sighs at that. "Listen, Rose, if you trust the person you're with tonight to protect you, then I don't mind. You're an adult, you should know what you're doing." I start to feel relieved at his words and already excited at the thought of seeing Jisoo again when he carries on. "However, you need to get the green light from Jungkook."
"Green light for what?" At this moment, Jungkook, who's just finished soundcheck with the others, appears behind me.
Shit. I haven't even had time to think about how I want to tackle the issue with him. While Jungkook has apologized to me several times about making me stay inside at all times, he's never once even considered to change that decision, and I'm assured he won't until the saesangs are identified. So how the heck am I supposed to convince him?
Wish me luck.
"For going out," Jinyoung calmly tells him.
Jungkook immediately raises an eyebrow at me, and my heart starts beating faster. "Excuse me?"
