Chapter 20
Zainab's POV
Memories of the past I tried hard to bury, I tried hard to forget came flooding back in my head.
God that was a terrible experience I didn't imagine I would see him again. I never wanted to see him again. It's been three years but I still haven't gotten over it. The wound he created seems fresh now. How I wish I could make him suffer, castrate that fool but how can I do that when I wasn't strong and brave enough to face him.
I finally stop running to catch my breath. I didn't even know where I was. I see people giving me weird looks. It's not everyday you see a girl running like I did.
I wanted to call someone so they can come get me but I left my purse at the park and my phone is in it.
I looked around and there are so many people around so I'm probably safe. I don't even know what to do i just stand in a corner panting.
"Mama Zee what is chasing you?" My friend Kauthar voice came into my ear as a soothing sound.
I raise my head up slightly to get a glimpse of my friend who I then notice was wearing a long green khimar.
"SubhanAllah!" She exclaimed loudly. "What happened to you? You look like a mess. Were you crying? Damn girl your eyes are red." She sounded so concerned.
I didn't realize that I looked like that. I just wanted to get far away from that monster Adam. Seeing him makes me want to cut myself into pieces. Remove my present skin and replace it with a new one. It's sounds weird but that's how I feel.
"Zainab talk to me So I could help you." Kauthar said again. I must have zoned out.
"Can I use your phone please?" I asked in a very low tone that even I could hardly hear me but Kauthar heard me anyway. She seems to be paying critical attention to me in case I decide to tell her what's going on with me.
"Zainab I know we aren't best of friends and we only throw insult at each other but I want you to know you can always talk to me I'm here for you. Let's sit over there." I nodded and don't say anything as She guide me to a bench in front of a small kiosk.
She sighed and hand me her phone.
"Make the call with my SIM one I don't have airtime in Sim two."
I nodded again and proceeded to dial Sadiq's number which he answered immediately.
"Hello." Came Sadiq's clear voice.
"Sadiq." I whispered.
"Zee where are you? Are you alright? We'll come get you."
Where am I?
I gave Kauthar the phone so she could tell them our location.
"Rock avenue, yes there's a school nearby. Jovick Academy of sciences. Okay we'll be waiting." She hung up.
"Thank you."
"You are welcome. I really don't like seeing you like this. It makes it hard for me to insult you." Kauthar joked.
I gave her a small smile. "What are you doing here? You don't live around here cause I know your house."
"You think you are the only one who runs from their problem." She teased.
"What is the problem?"
"You won't tell me yours but want to hear mine?"
"It might help me forget about my troubles."
