This chapter has a lot of errors. Although I did my best. That doesn't mean I'm not disappointed with myself.

Enjoy.

Zainab's POV.

The court room is a place that makes me anxious and nervous and this is my first time of being in a court. I've imagined myself in a court room. Maybe the time I wanted to study law I imagined my self  in a court room helping someone get Justice but not that I would be the one being helped.

Life no get balance.

I looked over where Adam and his family are seated. Adam was staring at me. I gulped if I lose I wonder what would happen to me.

"Mama na, don't look at him." My father who is sitting next to me warned.

I won't. I averted my eyes from him

" All arise for the honourable judge." The woman with a loud voice announced and everyone including me stood up.

Standing up because an old man is coming in. Pathetic! Oh! I almost forgot that his an old man who has so much power to decide my faith.

"You may all sit down." The judge ordered and everyone did. "I'm here with the case between Zainab Abbas and Adams Modibo Bature. Mr Modibo you have been charged with rape, physical assault and murder, do you plead guilty or not guilty?" The judge asked Adam.

"Not guilty." Adam answered with confidence

"I may now hear the opening statement of both sides the prosecuting council may proceed."

Miss Ola stoop up with so much grace I didn't miss the Bismillah she uttered before proceeding

"Your honor I seek Justice for my client Zainab Abbas and many other women this man Adam Modibo has hurt. Three years and six months ago my Zainab Abbas was kidnapped, tortured and raped by Adam here and was near death when she was rescued by some good Samaritan. I have evidence that proves he's guilty." She ended her speech and came back to her chair.

"Your honor, I'd like to say that my client here is being wrongly accused. Everyone who knew Adam and miss Zainab here would remember how close they were back then they were lovers and those faithful days she went on her own to his apartment."  The nerve of this lawyer defending Adam.

"Now that miss Zainab here needs money for many reasons."  The liar of a lawyer continued spitting rubbish from his mouth.

I wonder how much money Adam is giving him to lie for him.

"I would like to contradict your statement attorney." Miss Ola stood up immediately the other lawyer  finished presenting his wrong facts and nyash down.
"My client was never a lover to Mr Adam here they might have been friends at one time but my client was too busy trying to get a 4.6 GPA that she didn't have time to date anyone. Of course I believe Adam here tried to make her date him but she had a high priority set for herself. So Mr Adam here decided to take her by force."

"Objection my Lord. What she is saying is absolutely wrong." The other lawyer said.

"Over ruled. Attorney you may carry on." The judge motioned for miss Ola to keep on talking.

"My Lord to argue a case effectively there should be presence of witnesses and I have my first witness Miss Judith Sule." My mouth hung open. what is my University paddy doing here how did miss Ola find her.

"Miss Judith here and my client Zainab were friends back in school and she should know if Adam and my client were lovers."

Judith went to take a stand in the witness box and the secretary gave her a Bible to swear that she'll say the truth and Nothing but the truth and also informed her that lying in a court is a punishable offense.
