Chapter 38

Zainab's POV

"Damnit Zainab hurry up. I need to do your make up." Fatima called

"You are not going to touch my face." I declared.

Today is the day of Eid and we are all preparing for Eid prayer that is to take place in the Eid ground which is a ten minutes walk from here.

"Hurry up Fatima. I'm waiting for you in the living room." I informed her before heading to the living room.

If I had known she would bother me about make up I won't have forgiven her. I would have waited till after the celebration.

I can just imagine the commotion at home right now. Sally wasting time applying make up, Amina already ready and just sitting quietly on couch In the living room for others to come down, my mother complaining that her hijab is not well ironed, Maryam can't find her shoes which Sally probably hide so Maryam won't have any option than to wear heels. Right now my dad is probably bugging Ahmad to help him with his cufflinks then finally the two idiots Sadiq and Kaybee By now they are dressed but they will ransack everyone's room looking for perfumes so they can spray they must have carved their hair and beard to look like men who pocess sense, finally my stepmom would be in the kitchen preparing food.

I was snapped From my thoughts when I saw Yusuf mother with a floor length hijab. She gave me a warm smile just like me she didn't apply make up but when Nusaiba her daughter came out you could tell she applied a light make up.

"Barka da sallah." I wished Yusuf mother.

"Same to you my dear daughter. I pray we witness more and more in your husband house inshallah. I pray the next Eid you will be holding your child as you go to Eid prayer." She winked at me when she finished.

I smile at how mischievous my future mother inlaw is. The woman doesn't have problem. She's carefree and jovial. if I am too compare her to my mother there would be many difference to spot but whatever it may be good or bad my mother is still my mother and I love her like that. No woman can compare to the woman who brought me to this world. The woman who  had to endure bites from me when she breastfed me.  My mother told me that when I was an infant with small growing teeth I used to bite her but then she said she also beat me anytime I did it so I stopped

I miss my mother

Nusaiba drag her son who is barely walking along With her. The boy was all smiles when he saw his grandma beaming at him.

"Where are the my other grand children?" Hajiya Fauziya asked

"They are with their uncle. Ya Sultan and Daddy took them they already left to the Eid ground." She informed us.

"Those people of the same gender they feel like they are better than us so they can't even wait for us. Let them not worry we shall go on our own." Hajiya Fauziya lament

After about ten minutes of waiting Sadiya and Fatima came out so we headed for the prayer.

The dress I wore is an African printed floor length gown,  a well tailored gown which was gifted to me by my future mother inlaw. She's amazing.

After the prayer we had to find the males of the family. We eventually found them. I met so many people as I walk with Fatima to Yusuf, his father and brothers where.

Fatima and I kept saying hi to many familiar faces all these people are acquittance from our childhood and teenage years mostly from secondary school.

When we went to where the  males were I thought we were just going to walk home together but to my surprise Khalid brought out a camera and that's how our picture session started
