Rule # 6

Chapter 9

Jo's pov

It was the day of the fall carnival luckily we had help with Felix and Hero building the stand for us. As we are putting on the lights Hero whispers to me "did you tell her yet?" "No I already know her answer" I say pouting. "That's why I'm going to make her change her answer" he says smirking. "Hey FT you doing the kissing booth" Mia asks him. "Hell no I'm not" he says laughing. "Too bad well I will be working it later so buy a kiss for me" she says batting her lashes at him. Why did I even ask her to join? Oh that's right because you needed the hottest people in the school and she is one of them. Hero just shakes his head and laughs as I glare at him. "Let's go Mercy we need to get showered and changed before tonight" I tell her pulling her away from Felix. "Hey you ladies aint waiting for us" Felix asks. "Nope sorry girl time" I yell at him. As we are walking Mercy asks me "Jo are you upset about me and Felix?" "What of course not" I tell her. "Good because I think I'm falling for him" she says. "I'm happy for you I swear" I tell her. We continue on our way and I'm wondering should I just tell her. "Mercy" I say she looks at me and says "what Jo?" "Um you know I have a crush on Hero right?" I ask her. "Yeah and we already went over this and that he was bad for you and our rule of course" she says annoyed. I decide to drop the subject and let her find out tonight in front of everyone else. I drop Mercy off and she says "Felix will pick us up at 6pm." I nod ok and continue to my house. As soon as I get there I see Hero's car parked out front. As I walk over he jumps out his car and says "why the hell did you run off like that earlier." "I needed some time with Mercy" I say defensively. "Bull shit don't forget Jo I've know you your entire life and I can tell when your lying" he says. "I'm not dealing with this right now I need to get ready" I tell him walking towards my door. "This isn't over Josephine" he says as I slam the door. I groan in frustration and thank the fact both my parents are working a double today. I quickly get in the shower and wash away all the stress from the past few weeks.

Hero's pov

I got roped into helping build the stage and props for Mercy and Jo's kissing booth at least Felix was just as much a sucker for his girl as I was because he was sweating and swearing along with me. I see Jo struggling with some lights so I go to help her and whisper in her ear "did you tell her yet?" "No I already know her answer" she says sounding defeated. "That's why I'm going to make her change her answer" I tell her given her a little smirk. All of a sudden I hear a girl yell "Hey FT you doing the kissing booth?" I look and see Mia one of the cheerleaders and total bimbos. "Hell no I'm not" I say laughing at her and then she says "too bad well I will be working the booth later so buy a kiss for me" as she bats her eyelashes making herself look like she's having a damn seizure. I just shake my head and laugh again and then I hear Jo say "let's go Mercy we need to get showered and changed before tonight" as she pulls her away from Felix he yells "hey you ladies aint waiting for us?" "Nope girl time sorry" Jo yells as they continue to walk. "Dude what the fuck was that about?" Felix asks me. "I don't fucking know bruv she's been in a pissy mood because Mercy won't accept us" I tell him. We finish up the lights for the girls and I drop Felix off he said Mercy asked him to pick her and Jo Jo for 6pm at my house. We both leave and I find myself driving to Jo's. I park out front and wait a little until I see her walking down the street I jump out and say "why the hell did you run off like that earlier?" "I needed some time with Mercy" she says looking down. "Bull shit don't forget I've known you your entire life Jo and I can tell when your lying" I tell her. "I'm not dealing with this right now I need to get ready" she says storming off before she shuts the door I yell our "this isn't over Josephine." I head home to take a shower and brush my teeth I get changed putting on black jeans, a white tee and black leather jacket. I put my black Jordans on and my chains after I gel my hair back and put deodorant on and some cologne. Time to claim my girl.

Jo's pov

I text Mercy saying I would just meet them at the carnival. I see Felix as he walks Mercy over to our booth. "Hey you ok?" Mercy asks me. "Yeah im fine" I say. "I'll leave you ladies to it I'm just going to find Hero real fast" Felix says giving Mercy a kiss. "Ok gather around one and all to get a kiss from someone hot and tall. We also have a twist the people you will kiss will be blindfolded" I yell. Everyone cheers as Mercy says "all smooches are 5 dollars no returns with a courtesy mint that we encourage each and everyone of you to take."  People start lining up as I announce our first kiss for the ladies is the incredibly handsome "Flynn" I say and for the men the amazingly beautiful "Mia" Mercy says. We get through 3 rounds of epic kisses when our last round of the night is here. Gwen comes over to me and says "Jo I can't do it I'm sick." "What seriously we only have like 10 more minutes" I beg her. Just then she starts vomiting and I immediately grab her blind fold. As I head out my head begins to spin fuck Hero is going to be so mad. Mercy gasps when she sees me walking out blindfolded but I ignore it there is only a few people left in line the rest are just hanging around watching the show. My hands begin to clam up when I hear Hero yell "Fuck no not happening." I lift my blindfold to see Hero giving the last 8 guys in line the death glare as they all quickly turn away. "What the fuck Hero this is for charity" Mercy yells. He throws her a $50 bill and says "that's 10 kisses each one lasting a minute so there I saved your charity." He climbs the stage and takes the blind fold off me and then grabs me and kisses me with so much want and passion. Our lips molded perfectly together as our tongues caress one another's we finally pull away and he says "damn." We both just hold onto each other until we hear the screams and applause coming from the audience still gathered around the stage. "Oh my god we just did that in front of everyone" I say embarrassment creeping over me. "Relax Jo it was just a kiss" he says. I finally get the courage to look at Mercy and she is crying I run to her but she stops me and says "no don't." "Please Mercy let me explain" I say chasing her after she ran off the stage. Felix and Hero reach up to us and he makes her stop saying "just hear them out babe." But that only makes her madder as she yells at him "so you knew about this." "Look Mercy it's not fair you expect me to accept you being with my best mate but you can't accept being with yours" Hero says exasperatedly. "We have rules we follow and she broke them" she says screaming and crying. I didn't realize I was crying until I said "I'm so sorry Mercy please forgive me." "It's either him or me Jo and that's that" she says with authority. I burry my head in my hands and sob she's really going to make me choose. "Fuck Mercy what is wrong with you that's your best friend who your making cry because your so damn selfish" Hero yells. "Hero stop" I yell at him. "So you choose her then?" He asks me hurt in his eyes. "Mercy we were 7 when we made those rules and yes some of them I will always swear to live by but a few are just dumb kid stuff." I tell her. As I continue to cry I say "and if you really want me to choose then I choose neither of you because I can't stand the thought of being around one of you and not the other when you both live together" I say. I quickly start to run away not giving anyone a chance to stop me. It's starts pouring rain and I see a car pulling up near me I run faster hoping who ever it is will get the hint and back off. I hear the door slam and Hero yell "Jo get in the damn car." I continue walking and then I hear him punch the hood of his car saying "get in the fucking car Jo please." I turn around and climb in saying "take me home now."

Hero's pov

I was pissed when I waited for Jo only to find out she walked to the carnival instead. Deciding to drive myself now instead of tagging along with Felix and Mercy. I head over to the booth staying far enough back to watch her but not have her see me yet. My jaw clenches when she introduces Flynn as incredibly handsome but I know she is just doing this for show. Felix comes running over and we decide to get something to eat to kill some time. "Carnivals almost done bruv let's get back to the ladies" Felix says. As soon as I head over I see a huge crowd gathered around. I laugh thinking these wankers really get off on people kissing. Then I see Jo stumble onto the stage blindfolded "fuck no not happening" I yell giving the guys in line a death glare luckily they all back off. Mercy bitches about losing money for the charity so I throw her a $50 and say there 10 kisses worth a minute each so I saved your charity. I reached up and pulled the blindfold off Jo and then I crashed my lips against hers not breaking contact for what felt like hours and not just 10 minutes. After we pulled apart I couldn't help but say "damn" as she smiles and we hold each other the whole crowd goes crazy. "Oh my god we just did that in front of everyone" she says blushing. "Relax Jo it was just a kiss" I tell her. Jo looks over and her face drops as she runs to Mercy and I can now see my sister is crying. She chases after Mercy and me and Felix are not far behind. When we catch up Felix tries getting Mercy to listen to us but she loses it when she realized he knew about me and Jo all along. I yell at her for being a hypocrite basically. And she yells that Jo had to choose I heard Jo break downs in sobs. I tell Mercy she is awful for making her friend feel this way. Then Jo drops a bomb and says how they made those rules when they were young and some of them she would live by but others were just kids stuff then she says if she really has to choose that she chooses neither of us because she can't bare of seeing one of us with out the other. She takes off running as I go to run after her my sister pulls me back "if you really love her then go get her." "I do love her Mercy more than you can ever know" I tell her. We are all getting soaked as it starts to pour on us. Felix says "go get your girl my bruv." "Are you sure?" I ask Mercy. "I can't live without her so if accepting she is in love with you is the only way to have her in my life so be it. Tell her to text me later" she says giving me a hug. I run to my car hoping Jo is taking the shortest route home I find her figure running through the rain. I jump out my car slamming the door I yell "get in the damn car Jo." She starts running faster so I get pissed and punch my car "get in the fucking car Jo please" I say pleading with her. She finally gets in and with out a glance towards me she says "take me home now." I glance over and notice she is shivering I hand her my coat saying "here put this on" and then I crank up the heat. She puts it on not saying a word until she realizes that we are not heading towards her house and she says "Hero I said to take me home. where are we?" "I'm taking you somewhere private we need to talk" I tell her. "Hero I already made my choice I'll live without both of you I have no other choice" she cries. "But you do" I say hushing her. I grab her hand in mine and mentally sigh at the fact she didn't pull away we hold hands all the way to my special spot.
