Chapter 20

Jo's pov

These past few weeks have flown by so fast. I've had the time of my life with Hero. We spent our days in school with him walking me to and from every class as we held hands in the hallway. Our nights were spent either going on dates alone or hanging out with Mercy and Felix and they often ended with us making love as much as we could. Our Thanksgiving was spent celebrating as we always do our families gathered together around the Fiennes Tiffin table. It was awesome and I blushed profusely when Hero said he was thankful for me and everyone smiled at us. Now it's almost Christmas time and we have a winter ball coming up at our school. Me and Mercy are heading out to grab our dresses. She picks me up and I hop in her car. "Hey girl hey" I say laughing. "Hey bestie" she says smiling. "Let's go get these dresses" I say excitedly. "Has Hero asked you to the dance yet?" She asks me. "No but we're together so obviously we would go together" I say sarcastically. "I don't know Jo you know my brother he doesn't dance or even attend school functions he thinks there lame" she says shrugging. "Did Felix ask you yet?" I say getting annoyed. "Yeah last night he made a sign it was so adorable" she says smiling. Why hasn't Hero asked me yet? "What ever if he doesn't go I'll have to get another date then" I say aggravated. She shakes her head and smirks as we get to the mall. We head into the boutique with all the prom and bridal dresses inside and I immediately spot a shimmery light blue dress with sparkles all over it. "Oh my God" I say as I scoop the dress up and see it's in my size. "Wow Jo you'd look so beautiful in that" Mercy says smiling as she looks through the racks. "I'm going to try it on" I tell her as I head into the dressing room. I take my clothes off and slip the dress on I struggle with the zipper so I yell out "Merc can you help me?" She comes in the dressing room and zips me up as we stare at my reflection in the mirror. "Wow" she says as she holds my shoulders and smiles at me. "Yeah I think this is it" I say admiring the way the dress hugs every curve and holds my breasts up perfectly without a bra. "Definitely" Mercy agrees and goes back out to find herself a dress. I take the dress off and put my clothes back on. When I get out I don't see Mercy so I assume she's in the other dressing room. "Mercy you in there" I say knocking. "Yeah come in I need your help" she says. I walk in and see Mercy in a gorgeous white dress with sparkles all over it. It's similar to mine but in white and not baby blue. I zip her up and say "you look beautiful sis." She smiles as we admire the way the dress fits her perfectly and says "I'm so excited we finally get to go to the winter ball." It's stupid but they only allow the Juniors and Seniors to attend so this is the first year we can finally go. I slip out the door while she gets dressed and we take our dresses to the register. "That will be $220.43" she says to us. Mercy goes to hand her card over but I stop her and say "no I'll pay for mines." She waves her hand at me shooing me as she says "nope my treat." I sigh as she hands her card to the sales lady and she smirks at me. "Want to grab lunch at the food court?" She asks me as we walk out the boutique. "Sure" I say and we head towards the food court. We agree on Bob's burgers and each get a cheeseburger, fries and a chocolate shake. We start eating and then I hear someone whistling at us. I turn around and see Felix and Hero walking towards us. "Hey baby girl what are you doing here?" He asks me as he gives me a kiss. "Getting dresses for the ball" I say annoyed. "What you want to go to that thing?" He asks me seriously. "No Hero I don't I bought a dress to sit at around my house in" I say sarcastically. He scratches the back of his head one of his many nervous ticks as he says "I don't really do dances." "Fine I'll find a date to take me" I say exasperated. "What? Your what?" He says his jaw clenching. "You heard me" I say with venom in my voice. "Hey guys chill out" Felix says. "I am chill" I say to him. "Wait til you see our dresses your going to die" Mercy says to Felix as she gives him a kiss. "Merc I'm ready to go" I say as I get up to throw my trash away. "What we just got here" Hero says annoyed. "And now I'm leaving" I say. "I was going to spend the rest of the day with Felix" Mercy says to me timidly. "Fine I'll walk home" I say as I storm off with my dress. "Damn it Jo wait" Hero says chasing after me. I promised him I'd stop running. I turn around fast and Hero almost runs into me as he stops himself. "Babe I'm sorry I didn't think you'd even want to go to a dance" he says seriously. "Why would you assume that?" I ask him. "I don't know I've never seen you go to one before" he says. "That's because I wasn't allowed you idiot" I say exasperated. "So then maybe we compromise" he says as he grabs me and pulls me closer. "And what does that mean?" I say trying to hide my smile as he caresses my arms. "It means we go to the dance for a little while and then we go to the party my friend is having" he says. "No you have to ask me to the dance first" I say giggling. "I don't have to make a stupid poster  do I" he says nervously. "No babe just ask me" I say seriously. "Josephine will you do me the greatest honor of coming to the winter ball with me" he says as he holds my hands in his. "I shall" I say giggling. "Well thank fuck" he says chuckling. "Good thing you asked me because once you see my dress you would of been really jealous seeing me with another guy" I say seriously. "Yeah I'd probably kill the fucker and we don't want that do we" he says laughing. "No we don't" I say giving him a kiss. "Do you still want to go home?" He asks me. "Well my parents aren't home" I say smiling at him. "What are we waiting for then?" He says chuckling as he picks me up I shriek and yell out "Hero put me down." "Nope sorry in a hurry here" he says as he runs out the door with me draped over his shoulder as I clutch onto my dress. "If you ruin my dress I'll kill you" I say laughing as he places me down near his car. Luckily he didn't bring the bike my dress definitely wouldn't survive that. But it would of been funny to see him driving Felix on it.
