Chapter 16

Jo's pov

We are heading to the restaurant to have brunch with the Fiennes Tiffins my parents said that Martha and George had some news to tell us. As soon as we arrive we are seated on the outside patio the ocean view was beautiful. A few minutes later I see Hero, Mercy, Felix, Martha and George come in and my mom waves them over. We ask the waiter for an extra seat since Felix has joined us. Hero smiles as he sits down next to me giving me a kiss on the cheek he says "good morning love." I blush still shy about displays of affection especially in front of our parents as I say "good morning." We all order our food and drinks and talk until our food arrives. Hero keeps messing with me squeezing my thigh under the table I push his hand away and glare at him while he gives me a little smirk his dimples popping out. When we are done eating George taps his wine glass saying "we have an announcement to make everyone." We all stop talking and pay attention as he continues he says "we want to say how proud we are of Hero for getting early admittance into Harvard." And that's when it hits me Hero will be leaving for college next year. "Dad I told you I wasn't going" Hero says glaring at his dad. "What are you shitting me it's Harvard" I tell him smiling. "So you want to be over 3,000  miles away from me?" He says gritting his teeth. "Hero you are going" his mom says. He gets up and stalks away as I run after him. "Hero wait" I yell he turns around so fast I bump into his chest and stumble back as he grabs ahold of me to hold me steady. "Why didn't you tell me?" I ask him. He sighs and runs his hands through his hair saying "because I don't want to go. Because I don't want to leave you and I knew you would try and talk me into going." "Your damn right I would have you just got a full ride to Harvard and you are not passing that up" I say pulling him in for a kiss. "I can't be away from you" he says with tears in his eyes. "We can do this" I tell him. "Only if you apply to every school in Boston" he says kissing me. Shit me and Mercy always said we would go to Berkeley together. But what I said next was for his future not mines. "Of course I will baby" I say kissing him. I lead him back to our families and Hero mutters out "I'm sorry for the outburst I'm gonna go for it." Everyone claps and tells them how proud they are but Hero stops them and says "ok thanks guys but enough about Harvard until I leave next fall yeah." Our parents leave and we decide to take a walk on the beach with Felix and Mercy.

Hero's pov

I got the letter last week full scholarship to Harvard. I told my parents I wasn't going I had just got Jo after years of loving her from afar no way was I letting her go now. As we drive to restaurant I'm nervous my parents said they had an announcement to make and I just hope they don't bring up Harvard. We all get to the restaurant and I walk in and see Jo sitting down with her parents her mom waves us over and I go to sit near Josephine saying "good morning love" as I kiss her cheek. She smiles blushing as she says "good morning." We all order and talk and laugh once our food arrives we all dig in and eat. We are all done and my dad takes his wine glass and taps his fork against it saying "we have an announcement to make" everyone looks at him as he says "we are so proud of Hero for his early admittance to Harvard." What the fuck I look at Jo and I could see the wheels turning as I say "dad I told you I wasn't going." "What are you shitting me it's Harvard" Jo says smiling as she grabs my hand. "So you want to be 3,000 miles away from me?" I say gritting my teeth. "Hero your going" my mum says glaring at me. I jump up and storm off I can tell Jo is behind me as she yells out "Hero wait" I turn around making her bump into me so I grab her shoulders and help her steady herself. "Why didn't you tell me?" She asks glancing up at me. "Because I don't want to go. Because I don't want to leave you and i knew you'd talk me into going" I say exasperated. "Your damn right I would have you just got a full ride to Harvard and I am not letting you pass that up" my stubborn girl says to me. "I can't be away from you" I say tears in my eyes she caresses my cheek and says "we can do this together." "Only if you apply to every school in Boston" I tell her seriously holding her close. "Of course baby" she says kissing me. We head back to the table and I apologise and let everyone know I am gonna go to Harvard but I don't want to talk about it anymore til I'm ready to leave next fall.  I look over at Jo whose smiling and my heart hurts just thinking about leaving her. Our parents leave and we decide to walk on the beach. Mercy and Felix are walking ahead of us holding hands as they laugh and splash each other with the tide coming in. Me and Jo are holding hands she sways them back and forth as we walk. We aren't talking but the silence is peaceful between us. After awhile we grab some dinner at a taco stand and Mercy asks Felix to take her home. The girls hug and Mercy says "I told your parents you were sleeping over mines tonight." "Ok so see you later" Jo says confused. Mercy smiles at me and gives me a thumbs up as Felix pats my back and gives Jo a hug saying "have a good night mate see ya JoJo." They leave and Jo turns to me smirking saying "what are you up to Mr. Fiennes Tiffin?" "It's a surprise" I say dragging her towards a little cottage on the beach. "What are we doing here?" She says nervously as I slide the key in and open the door she gasps as she notices the white and red rose petals later out all over with candles lighting the room. "When did you do all this?" She says smiling at me as she pulls me in for a kiss. "Mercy and Felix helped me out earlier she even packed you some clothes" I say showing her the little suitcase.
