The scary part is...

What if we could never solve the problem because the problem has been there from the start?
We can't go back to normal because this problem is our 'normal'. This problem is what we started with.
There's nothing to go back to. There's nothing to fix because it never broke.
Somehow it just started off broken and that was normal.
Our normal was our problem, so we can't fix it.

That's scary.
